COVID-19 claims 1 more patient, infects 186 others 

Karachi, December 26, 2021 (PPI-OT):As many as 1 more patient of Coronavirus died overnight lifting the death toll to 7,662 and 186 new cases emerged when 12,205 tests were conducted. This was stated by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in a statement issued here on Sunday. He added that 1 more patient of COVID-19 lost his life, lifting the death toll to 7,662 that constituted 1.6 percent death rate.

Mr. Shah said that 12,205 samples were tested which detected 186 cases that constituted 1.5 percent current detection rate. He added that so far 7,068,411 tests have been conducted against which 479,551 cases were diagnosed, of them 97.3 percent or 466,784 patients have recovered, including 21 overnight. The CM said that currently 5,105 patients were under treatment, of them 4,922 were in home isolation, 36 at isolation centres and 147 at different hospitals. He added that the condition of 140 patients was stated to be critical, including 13 shifted to ventilators.

According to the statement, out of 186 new cases, 69 have been detected from Karachi, including 28 from East, 17 South, 15 Korangi, 8 Central and 1 West. Hyderabad has 25, Matiari 13, Dadu 12, Naushero Feroze, Sujawal and Shaheed Benazirabad 10 each, Jamshoro 7, Thatta 6, Larkana 5, Tharparkar 4, Sanghar, Tando Muhammad Khan and Tando Allahyar 3 each, Badin, Umerkot and Mirpurkhas 2 each.

Vaccination: Sharing vaccination data the CM said that 28,324,857 vaccinations have been administered upto December 24th, and added during the last 24 hours 216,833 vaccines were inoculated – in total 28,541,690 vaccines have administered which constituted 51.39 percent of the vaccine eligible population. The chief minister urged people of the province to follow SOPs.

Scouting encourages physical, social, intellectual developments of youngsters: Murad Ali Shah 

Karachi, December 26, 2021 (PPI-OT):Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that Scouting encourages physical, intellectual, social, and spiritual development of young people so that they take a constructive and effective place in society as responsible citizens. “As a student, I have served as a scout and had the art and knowhow to install a tent properly and had stayed in camps here in 1976 for a couple of days, therefore I feel honoured to be with you [scouts] today.”

This he said while speaking at the concluding ceremony of 8th Sindh Scouts Camporee organized at Training Center, Gulshan-e-Iqbal. The programme was attended by Chief Secretary Mumtaz Shah, Chief Pattern Scouts, Sindh Siddique Memon and others.

Mr Shah said that he was a scout from class VIIIth and had participated in all the training and Camporees and still he remembered all the coded messages and its activities. “You [scouts] are going to hold a mega event in your headquarter in March 2022 and I’ll not only attend that event but would stay a night with you in the camp,” he announced.

Murad Ali Shah appreciating the services of scouts said that they have performed dedicated and commendable duties during Muharram majalis and COVID situations. “This is the manifestation of your belief in the humanity,” he said and added “the actual satisfaction in your heart and soul you feel when you serves humanity irrespective any discrimination,” he said. The chief minister showed his photographs of 1976 in which he was clad in scout uniform to the participants of the Camporee.

The CM appreciated the chief secretary Mumtaz Shah and chief pattern of Sindh Scouts Siddique Memon for their dedication in imparting proper training to scouts, boys and girls. On the occasion, chief secretary Mumtaz Shah and Siddique Memon also spoke. The scouts demonstrated their skill, including presenting songs and tableaus. The chief minister planted a tree to mark the 8th Scouts Camporee.

IG Punjab Rao Sardar Ali Khan takes notice on killing of two brothers in a minor altercation in Gujranwala

Lahore, December 26, 2021 (PPI-OT):Inspector General of Police Punjab Rao Sardar Ali Khan has taken notice on incident of killing of two brothers in a minor altercation at Gujranwala and sought a report from RPO Gujranwala. IG Punjab directed CPO Gujranwala to arrest accused immediately and take strict legal action. Rao Sardar Ali Khan directed that close contact be maintained with the affected family and provision of justice to the bereaved be ensured on priority basis.

City Police Officer Gujranwala Capt (retd) Syed Hamad Abid has formed a special police team under supervision of SP Civil Line to arrest the accused. Police gathered evidence from scene and the bodies were rushed to the hospital for an autopsy.

Tight security arrangements were made on second day of Christmas across province

Lahore, December 26, 2021 (PPI-OT):Strict security arrangements were made for Christian places of worship across the province on the second day of Christmas. IG Punjab had directed all RPOs and DPOs of the province to come up with a special plan for security of Sunday prayer rites in the churches while at the same time all field officers personally monitored security of recreational spots and parks.

Rao Sardar Ali Khan said that patrols of patrolling forces should be intensified in view of overcrowded public places and lady personnel would also perform security duties in recreational places and parks. Following these instructions, fool proof security arrangements were made in all the districts of the province. IG Punjab has directed the supervisory officers to ensure protection of life and property of citizens with the same diligence and dedication in future also.

Spokesperson of Punjab Police said that an additional contingent of traffic wardens was deployed on Sunday to maintain smooth traffic flow outside the churches and recreational areas while legal actions were also taken against aerial firing, kite flying, one wheeling and hooliganism. He further said that upon reporting on 15, immediate legal action would be taken against negative elements which were spoiling happiness of the citizens.

Sufficient FO stock available to meet country’s winter energy needs: Hammad 

Islamabad, December 26, 2021 (PPI-OT):Minister for Energy Hammad Azhar says country has sufficient stock of furnace oil to meet the country’s energy needs during winter season.

In a series of tweets on Sunday, he said Pakistan faced a moderate shortage of furnace oil in summer season as the power plants ran more than last year due to low water levels in dams. The Minister informed that a new refinery policy is being finalised to shift refineries away from the production of furnace oil.

Deputy Speaker NA vows to end deprivations of people of Balochistan

This he stated while talking to media in Quetta on Sunday. The Deputy Speaker said that PTI will be reorganized in Balochistan. KJP, HEC launches four new schemes to engage youth in sports: Usman Dar 

Islamabad, December 26, 2021 (PPI-OT):Kamyab Jawan Program in collaboration with Higher Education Commission has launched four new schemes worth four billion rupees to keep the youth engaged in sports and recreational activities. This was stated by Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Youth Affairs, Muhammad Usman Dar in a meeting with Secretary Pakistan Hockey Federation and Olympian Asif Bajwa in Islamabad.

He said recognizing the talents and dedication of the youth in the field of sports, Kamyab Jawan talent hunt and sports academies are being set up across the country. Usman Dar said under the Talent Hunt, various sports competitions would be organized at district and national level in all provinces, including Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir for identification and selection of talented players and rising stars.
