Promotions in Pakistan Navy

Islamabad, January 01, 2022 (PPI-OT):Two officers of Pakistan Navy promoted to the rank of Rear Admiral with immediate effect. Rear Admiral Faisal Amin got commission in Operations Branch of Pakistan Navy in 1992. The Flag Officer is a graduate of Command and Staff College, Quetta, National Defence University, Islamabad and Royal College of Defence Studies, United Kingdom. The Admiral has an illustrious naval career covering vast experience of various Command and Staff appointments.

His major Command appointments include Commanding of PN Ships RAJSHAHI and ALAMGIR and 18th Destroyer Squadron. His prominent Staff appointments include Director Naval Developmental Plans (Platform), Principal Secretary to the Chief of the Naval Staff and Assistant Chief of the Naval Staff (Operations) at Naval Headquarter, Islamabad. Currently, Rear Admiral Faisal Amin is appointed as Additional Secretary – III at Minister of Defence. The Admiral is a recipient of Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military).

Rear Admiral Syed Faisal Ali Shah was commissioned in Operations Branch of Pakistan Navy in 1992. The Flag Officer’s distinguished academic career includes MSc in Defence and Strategic Studies from Quaid e Azam University Islamabad Masters in War Studies (Maritime) from Bahria University, Master of Military Studies from US and M Phil in Public Policy and Strategic Security Management from National Defence University, Islamabad. He is a graduate of Pakistan Navy War College, US Marine Corps Command and Staff College and National Defence University Islamabad.

The Admiral has a vast experience of command and staff appointments which include command of a Marines Operational unit, Commander West and Commander Creeks. He has also served as Director Marines and Special Service Group (Navy) at Naval Headquarters as well as Naval and Air Attache of Pakistan in Iran. Rear Admiral Syed Faisal Ali Shah is presently appointed as Director General Joint Cantonment Gwadar (DGJCG) at Joint Staff Headquarters. The Admiral is a recipient of Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military).

Government made significant efforts to minimise economic implications of Covid-19: Farrukh 

Islamabad, January 01, 2022 (PPI-OT):Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Farrukh Habib says the PTI government has made significant efforts to minimise economic implications of Covid-19 pandemic. Addressing a ceremony in Lahore, he said the government has introduced a number of projects for welfare of the people. Farrukh Habib said people of the country voted Prime Minister Imran Khan as they believe and support his vision to bring about real change and put the country on way to progress and prosperity.

ECC allows continuing subsidy on five essential commodities 

Islamabad, January 01, 2022 (PPI-OT):Economic Coordination Committee of the Cabinet has allowed Ministry of Industries and Production to continue the subsidy on five essential commodities for current month. The permission was given at the ECC meeting chaired by Minister for Finance and Revenue Shaukat Tarin in Islamabad.

The Committee approved the proposal of Ministry of Communication for special allocation of additional funds of eight billion rupees against approved share of the government for Sialkot-Kharian Motorway Project. It further approved the summary tabled by Ministry of Industries and Production regarding gas rate for operations of SNGPL based plants.

The Committee also approved Technical Supplementary Grant of 90 million rupees for 1.2 MGD reverse Osmosis desalination Plant at Gwadar and 14.621 million rupees for purchase of spare parts of Helicopter maintained by Pakistan Rangers Sindh.

Government focusing development, welfare of downtrodden segments of society: Prime Minister 

Islamabad, January 01, 2022 (PPI-OT):Prime Minister Imran Khan says the government is focusing on development and welfare of downtrodden segments of society. Inaugurating a Panahgah near General Hospital in Lahore, he said model of Riyasat-e-Madina emphasizes much on taking care of the underprivileged segment of society. The Prime Minister directed the authorities concerned to ensure safe and comfortable stay of inhabitants in the Panahgah.

Meanwhile, presiding over a meeting of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf members in Punjab provincial Assembly in Lahore, the Prime Minister directed them to beef up their contacts with masses to ensure party’s electoral victory in the next local government elections in the province. During the meeting, overall political situation in the province and other political matters were discussed.

Indian troops martyred 210 Kashmiris in 2021

Srinagar, January 01, 2022 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Indian troops in their unabated acts of state terrorism martyred 210 innocent Kashmiris including five women and five young boys during the year 2021.

According to a report released by the Research Section of Kashmir Media Service, today, 65 of the martyrs were killed in fake encounters and custody. The Icon of Kashmir resistance movement, Syed Ali Gilani, died also died during his continued house arrest. The authorities harassed the family members of the veteran leader and did not allow people to offer his funeral prayers. Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Chairman, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, also died while he was in Indian police custody.

The report said, the killings by the troops rendered 16 women widowed and 44 children orphaned while 13 women were molested, abused or disgraced by the men in uniform during the year. It said that Indian forces destroyed 67 residential houses and structures.

The report pointed out as many as 487 persons were injured due to the use of brute force on protesters while 2,716 people including Hurriyat activists, human rights defender Khurum Parvez, students and young boys were arrested during house raids and crackdown operations by Indian troops and police. Many of those arrested were under black laws, Public Safety Act (PSA) and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

The Indian authorities did not allow people to offer Friday prayers for 45 weeks at the historic Jamia Masjid in Srinagar besides disallowing other religious functions like Muharram processions and Eid Milad-un-Nabi (SAW) gatherings in the occupied territory.

The report said that resistance leaders including APHC Chairman Masarrat Aalam Butt, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Nayeem Ahmed Khan, Aasiya Andrabi, Fehmeeda Sofi, Naheeda Nasreen, Altaf Ahmed Shah, Ayaz Muhammad Akbar, Peer Saifullah, Raja Merajuddin Kalwal, Shahid-ul-Islam and Farooq Ahmed Dar continue to remain in detention in Delhi’s Tihar Jail in fake cases.

The report maintained that over 4000 of people including Hurriyat leaders, activists and youth including Amir Hamza, Muhammad Yousuf Mir, Muhammad Yousuf Falahi, Muhammad Rafiq Ganai, Dr Muhammad Qasim Fakhtoo, Ghulam Qadir Butt, Dr Shafi Shariyatee, Mujahid Sehrai, Rashid Sehrai, Zahoor Ahmed Butt, Showkat Hakeem, Assadullah Parrey, Merajuddin Nanda, Hayat Ahmad Butt, Feroz Ahmad Dar, Muhammad Aslam Wani, Shahid Yousuf, Shakeel Yousuf, Feroz Ahmad, Ghulam Muhammad Butt, Khursheed Ahmad Butt, Junaid Ahmad Lone, businessman, Zahoor Watali, journalist Asif Sultan and Phd student Altaf Ahmad Khan remained in different jails of IIOJK and India under the black laws, PSA and UAPA.

The report said that in the month of December 2021 alone, the Indian troops martyred 31 Kashmiris. These killings rendered one woman widowed and two children orphaned. At least six people were injured due to use of brute force by the troops and police personnel against peaceful protesters while 94 civilians including youth were arrested in the month, it said, adding that the Indian forces’ personnel destroyed 11 residential houses during the period.

The report pointed out that since 5th August 2019, when Narendra Modi-led fascist Indian government revoked the special status of IIOJK, Indian troops, paramilitary and police personnel have martyred 515 Kashmiris till date. It added that 95,948 Kashmiris have fallen to the Indian bullet during the last 33 years in the occupied territory.

International Hindu delegation arriving Pakistan today on four-day visit 

Islamabad, January 01, 2022 (PPI-OT):A 200-member international Hindu delegation is arriving in Pakistan today (Saturday) via Dubai and Wagah border to visit their sacred places and historical sites including Samadhi of Shri Param Hans Ji Maharaj in Teri district Karak.

Talking to media before departure for Wagah border to welcome the delegation, Pakistan Hindu Council Patron-in-Chief Dr Ramesh Kumar Vankwani said the government is providing full support to religious tourism in the country. During the four-day visit to Pakistan, Hindu pilgrims would also visit Gurdwara Panja Sahib Hassan Abdal, Katas Raj Temple, Raja Ranjit Singh’s Samadhi, Minar-e-Pakistan, Shahi Qila, Badshahi Masjid and other historical sites.

Ramesh Kumar said that Pakistan Hindu Council would also arrange a four-day visit of Pakistani citizens, including parliamentarians to Ajmer Sharif, Delhi and Jaipur after 20th of this month. He said that a series of flights will start from both countries every month to facilitate religious pilgrims.

Prime Minister approves construction of Cricket Stadium in Islamabad 

Islamabad, January 01, 2022 (PPI-OT):Prime Minister Imran Khan has accorded approval to the construction of Cricket Stadium in Islamabad. Talking to Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board Rameez Raja, who called him in Lahore, the Prime Minister directed to utilize all resources for early completion of the stadium.

The Chairman PCB assured the Prime Minister of completing the construction of Cricket Stadium in Islamabad by 2025. During the meeting, views were exchanged on the upcoming Pakistan Super League season as well as overall cricket structure in the country.

The Naval Chief also expressed complete satisfaction over operational readiness of Pakistan Navy Fleet and lauded the dedication and professionalism of officers and soldiers for successfully achieving significant operational objectives and milestones. He also commended the PN Fleet’s efforts and contributions towards regional maritime security and protection of Pakistan’s Sea Lines of Communication.
