Islamabad, January 14, 2022 (PPI-OT): Honourable Mr. Justice Javed Iqbal, Chairman NAB chaired a meeting to review the performance of NAB Sukkur especially the convictions made under Section 10 and Section 25 (b) of National Accountability Ordinance (NAO) 1999 from Oct 10, 2017 to Dec 31, 2021 at NAB Headquarters. Zahir Shah, Deputy Chairman NAB, Syed Asghar Haider, Prosecutor General Accountability (PGA), DG Operations and Mirza Sultan Muhammad Saleem, DG NAB Sukkur participated in the meeting.
During the meeting, Mirza Sultan Muhammad Saleem, Director General (DG), NAB Sukkur informed the meeting that under the dynamic leadership of Honourable Mr. Justice Javed Iqbal, Chairman NAB, during the period from October 10, 2017 to Dec 31, 2021, 70x accused persons were convicted under section 10 of NAO-1999 whereas 333 x convictions under section 25(b) of the NAO-1999.
During the meeting DG NAB Sukkur informed that NAB Sukkur under the dynamic leadership of Honourable Mr. Justice Javed Iqbal Chairman NAB, 26 persons were convicted in 2017 by respected Accountability Courts under section 10 of NAO-1999. The details of the 26 convicted persons under section 10 of NAO-1999 are as under:
1. The State Vs Ali Dino Gahoti and Others, Accused Ali Dino Gahoti was convicted by Accountability Court Sukkur on 16th October, 2017 with a fine of Rs. 20 Million.
2. The State Vs Ali Dino Gahoti and Others, Accused Muhammad Aslam Lund was convicted by Accountability Court Sukkur on 16th October, 2017 with a fine of Rs. 10 Million.
3. The State Vs Ali Dino Gahoti and Others, Accused Gulsher Ahmed Solangi was convicted by Accountability Court Sukkur on 16th October, 2017 with a fine of Rs. 30 Million.
4. The State Vs Ali Dino Gahoti and Others, Accused Muhammad Ayaz Rana was convicted by Accountability Court Sukkur on 16th October, 2017 with a fine of Rs. 100 Million.
5. The State Vs Ali Dino Gahoti and Others, Accused Muhammad Hussain Mughal was convicted by Accountability Court Sukkur on 16th October, 2017 with a fine of Rs. 20 Million.

26. The State Vs Rajab Ali Shah and Others, Accused Rameez Rajab was convicted by Accountability Court Sukkur on 20th November, 2017 with a fine of Rs. 0.07 Million.
DG NAB Sukkur also informed that due to the efforts of NAB Sukkur under the dynamic leadership of Honourable Mr. Justice Javed Iqbal, Chairman NAB, 16 persons were convicted by respected Accountability Courts in 2018 under section 10 of NAO-1999. Moreover during the meeting DG NAB Sukkur informed the meeting that during the year 2017 from October, 2017, 41 accused persons were convicted by different Accountability Courts under section 25(b) of NAO-1999. The details of the 41 convicted persons under section 25(b) of NAO-1999 are as under:

39. The State Vs Muhammad Abid Arain and Others, Accused Lateef Dino was convicted by the Accountability Court Sukkur on 17.06.2021, an amount of Rs. 0.616075 Million was recovered from the accused u/s 25(b) of NAO, 1999.
40. The State Vs Hafeezullah Peerzado and Others, Accused Tanveer Ahmed was convicted by the Accountability Court Sukkur on 24.06.2021, an amount of Rs. 0.470685 Million was recovered from the accused u/s 25(b) of NAO, 1999.
41. The State Vs Masood Bhutto and Others, Accused Hidayetullah Memon was convicted by the Accountability Court Sukkur on 29.07.2021, an amount of Rs. 4.683256 Million was recovered from the accused u/s 25(b) of NAO, 1999.
42. The State Vs Hafeezullah Peerzado and Others, Accused Muhammad Ashraf was convicted by the Accountability Court Sukkur on 21.08.2021, an amount of Rs. 0.021 Million was recovered from the accused u/s 25(b) of NAO, 1999.
43. The State Vs Abdul Rasheed Malik and Others, Accused Hidayetullah Memon was convicted by the Accountability Court Sukkur on 25.09.2021, an amount of Rs. 2.136179 Million was recovered from the accused u/s 25(b) of NAO, 1999.
The Honorable Mr. Justice Javed Iqbal, Chairman NAB said that the excellent performance of NAB Sukkur has contributed well in the overall performance of NAB. He appreciated the performance of all ranks of NAB officers/officials under the supervision of Mirza Sultan Muhammad Saleem, DG NAB Sukkur and hoped that NAB Sukkur will continue to perform its functions in future with the same zeal and commitment in accordance with law.
He said that logical conclusion of mega corruption white collar crime cases is top most priority of NAB. He said that NAB’s faith is corruption free Pakistan. All officers of NAB are working with renewed energy and dedication considering eradication of corruption as their national duty.
