Lahore, January 07, 2022 (PPI-OT):Punjab Police operations are underway to save the youth from drug addiction and arrest accused involved in this heinous business. In this regard, crackdown against modern drugs especially Sheesha and Ice (meth) has been intensified across province. Spokesperson of Punjab Police said that crackdown is being carried out against cafes and hotels involved in the sale and supply of modern drugs while at the same time intelligence based operations are also being carried out to handcuff organized groups in this business.
About details of crackdown against use of modern drugs i.e. Sheesha and ice (crystalline meth) in all districts of the province, Punjab Police spokesperson said that last year, 583 cases were registered in Punjab for violating the Sheesha smoking ordinance and 1183 persons were arrested. While in the provincial capital Lahore 330 cases were registered and 617 persons were arrested.
Punjab Police Spokesperson further said that intelligence based operations have been intensified in all districts of the province to keep the youth safe from drugs and eradicate drug trafficking networks. He told that the propose of this massive crackdown is to stamp out drugs dealers from the society.
He further said that during the intelligence based operations especially in vicinity of educational institutions and student hostels; strict surveillance is being carried out. He said that anti-social events that are attracting and supplying the young generation towards fashionable drugs i.e. ice would be eradicated.
Punjab Police spokesperson further said that an awareness campaign would be intensified with other concerned departments to round up the big fish involved in drug trafficking and smuggling. Spokesperson of Punjab Police has appealed to the citizens that the use of Sheesha and ice is a legal offense and you and your parents will have to face difficulty upon violation.
