Srinagar, February 11, 2022 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, illegally detained All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) leader, Ameer Hamza Shah has been elected the new Chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir. Ameer Hamza, who was illegally detained in Agra Jail, India, had been carrying out organizational matters as acting chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat since the martyrdom of Mohammad Ashraf Sahrai in May last year.

After deliberation, Ameer Hamza was unanimously elected as the new Chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir. The party members have assured him of their full support. Earlier, Ameer Hamza Shah had served as the district president of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, Bandipora and Baramulla, as well as general secretary and acting chairman of the party.

During the period, the authorities illegally detained him several times in jails and police stations. After August 5, 2019, Ameer Hamza was released for a few days in September last year. However, he was once again illegally detained. He is currently being held illegally in Agra Jail, India. Meanwhile, APHC-AJK chapter leader, Ghulam Muhammad Safi has welcomed the appointment of Ameer Hamza Shah as Chairman of the Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir.
