Angola, Madagascar game expected to be tough – Paulo Tomás

Luanda – The match between the national teams of Angola and Madagascar, set for Sunday (5), in Antananarivo, will be very difficult, according to sports commentator, Paulo Tomás.

Speaking to ANGOP Thursday, on the sidelines of the presentation of the Angolan Football League in Luanda, he said that, given the performance of the Madagascans, despite being beaten by Ghana, by 0-3, Angola should be careful if it wants to score points in the opponent’s home ground.

Paulo Tomás said the national team beat CAR by 2-1, on Wednesday, but it was evident that some work was lacking, due to the unconvincing manner in which it presented itself, in the match of the first round of the qualifiers for the 2023 African Championship, in Cotê d’Ivoire.

“I am aware that it will be a very difficult game, in light of what we have followed,” he reiterated.

For the former footballer, the problem of lack of players with quality, in all positions of the field, no longer arises today.

In his opinion, Angola has an 80 percent chance of qualifying for the CAN2023 as either first or second place in group E, in a dispute with Ghana, and if that does not happen the campaign will be “a failure”.

After the first round of qualifiers, Angola is in second place with three points, the same as Ghana at the top.

Angola heads to Madagascar for the second round on Friday.
