The Hohoe United Football Club and three Division-2 football clubs; Nadm S.C, Hohoe Annoiting Stars and Burning Stars, have benefited from a week-long scouting tournament aimed at unearthing talents.

The European Scouts undertaking the tournament are Toure Jordan – Head Scout (Afc eskilstuna, Sweden) and Andre Paulo – representing scout (Djurgårdens IF, Sweden).

Mr John-Peter Amewu, Member of Parliament, Hohoe Constituency and Railway Development Minister, said the tournament was part of his youth and sports empowerment project for constituents.

He said it was geared towards identifying football talents that were constituents and facilitating their career progress to Europe.

Mr Amewu said they were positive that the identified players from the various teams would have the opportunity to progress their careers in Europe and be worthy ambassadors of the constituency and Ghana as a whole.

He said with the visiting scouts, they had started the process of establishing an academy and a youth team based on foot
ballers in Hohoe.

‘Hohoe has been blessed with a lot of great footballers from the past and I plan to birth a new generation of even greater footballers.’

Mr Amewu said their charge as leaders was to be a springboard for the people while their duty as political leaders was to accelerate the potential of followers.

Mr Edem Kofi Ansah, CEO, Hohoe United FC, said the scouting tournament was designed to bridge the gap between the demand that European football clubs had for African talents.

He said there was abundance of talents in Hohoe, Volta, Ghana and Africa hence the scouts embarking on such a talent hunt was commendable.

Mr Ansah said the scouts were elated about quality of players seen from the participating clubs, adding that it was the hope that scouting would be done annually to support talents in football.
