COVID-19 claims 12 more patients, infects 1,827 others

Karachi, January 29, 2022 (PPI-OT):As many as 12 more patients of Coronavirus died overnight lifting the death toll to 7,812 and 1,827 new cases emerged when 14,768 tests were conducted. This was stated by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in a statement issued here on Saturday. He added that 12 more patients of COVID-19 lost their lives lifting the death toll to 7,812 that constituted 1.5 percent death rate.

Syed Murad Ali Shah said that 14,768 samples were tested which detected 1,827 cases that constituted 12.4 percent current detection rate. He added that so far 7,552,142 tests have been conducted against which 537,662 cases were diagnosed, of them 90.5 percent or 486,664 patients have recovered, including 8915 overnight. The CM said that currently 43,186 patients were under treatment; of them 42,682 were in home isolation, 40 at isolation centres and 464 at different hospitals. He added that the condition of 400 patients was stated to be critical, including 27 shifted to ventilators.

According to the statement, out of 1,827 new cases 1,265 have been detected from Karachi, including 469 from Central, 337 South, 273 East, 120 Malir, 50 Korangi and 16 West. While others districts Hyderabad has 297, Sukkur 29, Tando Allahyar 24, Badin 22, Sanghar 20, Mirpurkhas and Tando Muhammad Khan 19 each, Khairpur and Umerkot 18 each, Sujawal 16, Thatta 14, Ghotki and Larkana 13 each, Jacobabad 12, Shikarpur nine, Jamshoro seven, Shaheed Benazirabad two and Dadu, Qambar, Matiari and Tharparkar one each.
