Lahore, January 19, 2022 (PPI-OT):IT based policing should be promoted in all districts of the province for crime control and convenience of citizens. He directed that the latest technology should be used to bring the investigation of serious crimes to a logical conclusion as soon as possible. He directed police officers to facilitate service delivery through IT reforms to address public issues and provide facilities. Rao Sardar Ali Khan said that training would be conducted in all the districts to enhance capacity of incharge IT cell and focal persons. IG Punjab directed all RPOs and DPOs of the province to pay special attention to technology-based reforms of Punjab Police.

He said that the concept of modern policing is not possible without effective use of information technology, Punjab Police is focusing on modernizing its working system. Rao Sardar Ali Khan said that monitoring system and working matters at the level of police stations should be carried out in accordance with the designed software and all supervisory officers should make the use of IT applications and modern software of Punjab Police their motto. He issued these instructions while presiding over a high-level meeting on IT reforms at the Central Police Office here today. The meeting discussed police IT projects, their upgradation and other professional matters.

Briefing the IG Punjab during the meeting, it was informed that Punjab Police is accelerating the use of information technology for crime control and public service delivery in accordance with the principles of smart and community policing. Resultantly, atmosphere of mutual cooperation between police and public is also improving. Giving instructions, IG Punjab said that use of modern technology and forensic science must be ensured to improve quality of investigation.

Rao Sardar Ali Khan said that in the light of the feedback received from the citizens, the mobile applications of the police should be upgraded and simplified and other applications including Women Safety App, Service Center App, Tourist Facilitation App, Driving License App should be advertised. The said campaign should be expedited so that more users can download and benefit from it. The meeting was attended by Additional IG Operations, DIG IT Iqbal Dara, DIG Operations and other officers.
