IIOJK authorities denounced for disallowing Juma prayers at Jamia Masjid Srinagar

Srinagar, January 07, 2022 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Anjuman Auqaf Jamia Masjid Srinagar has strongly denounced the authorities for once again disallowing the people to offer Juma prayers at the historic mosque, today.

The Anjuman Auqaf in a statement expressed deep sorrow and regret over the fact that even on the first Juma of the year 2022, the authorities, while demonstrating their dictatorship and arbitrariness, hurt the people’s sentiments by preventing them from fulfilling their religious obligation of praying at the largest spiritual centre and place of worship of the occupied territory.

The Anjuman said that it was the 23rd consecutive Friday when the pulpit and mihrabs of the Jamia Masjid were kept silent and also the religious obligation like Juma prayers could not be performed.

Strongly condemning the deplorable behavior of the authorities, the Anjuman said under a well-planned policy, continuously preventing the people from performing important religious duties like Friday prayers at the Jamia Masjid is a serious violation of fundamental religious rights as well as interference in the religious affairs against which every section of society is expressing anger and resentment.

The statement said, since 05 August 2019, the head of the Anjuman and the topmost leader of the people, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq is being kept under illegal and arbitrary detention and restricted from fulfilling his official and social responsibilities, which is unacceptable to the people.
