Pakistan mobilized international community for humanitarian assistance to Afghan people: Foreign Minister

Islamabad, January 07, 2022 (PPI-OT):Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi says Pakistan has mobilized OIC and entire international community for humanitarian Assistance to Afghan people. Addressing a news conference alongwith Special Assistant on Poverty Alleviation Dr Sania Nishtar in Multan, he said recent meeting of OIC’s foreign Ministers in Pakistan would help to streamline the banking system in Afghanistan. Foreign Minister said Afghan people including women and children are in short of food and other basic facilities in the country during ongoing cold wave.

He said sanctions on humanitarian assistance have been normalized now due to prudent diplomatic efforts of Pakistan. The Foreign Minister said the spoilers do not want peace in Afghanistan and success of Pakistan’s efforts to resolve general issues of Afghan public. However, he said these spoilers will not succeed in their designs.

Replying to a question, the Foreign Minister said Pakistan has received positive response from Afghan authorities to resolve border fencing issue through diplomatic channels. He said the border fencing is in the interest of both countries to regulate and facilitate trade and deny opportunity to anti-state elements to misuse Afghan or Pakistani soil for their nefarious designs.
