President calls for imparting latest IT skills to GB youth 

Islamabad, January 05, 2022 (PPI-OT):President Dr Arif Alvi has called for imparting the latest IT skills to the youth of Gilgit-Baltistan and increasing number of skilled graduates to meet rising demands of market and industry. He expressed these views during an interaction with students and faculty of the University of Baltistan, Skardu, who met him in Islamabad today (Wednesday).

The President said steps are being taken to enhance the quality and coverage of broadband and internet connectivity in Gilgit-Baltistan for the benefit of students, local population as well as tourists. He asked the universities to focus on the skill development of local youth and enhance quantum of online and virtual education so as to equip them with marketable skills.

Talking to the students, the President highlighted that GB has immense potential in the area of tourism and the government is focusing on its development to improve economic health of its people. He said Gilgit-Baltistan has a central place in the China Pakistan Economic Corridor that will significantly contribute to bringing socio-economic prosperity in the region.
