Vatican Begins Requiring COVID-19 ‘Green Pass’ for Visitors

The Vatican Museums began requiring visitors Friday to present a so-called Green Pass, a digital certificate proving they have been vaccinated, tested negative or recovered from COVID-19 using a digital or paper certificate.

The Green Pass is an extension of the European Union’s COVID-19 certificate, designed to make travel, as well as entry into certain venues, easier.

Early Friday, tourists could be seen waiting to enter the museums to have QR codes scanned. The pass can be downloaded as a smartphone app, and is available in a paper version.

The Vatican implemented its rules the same day the surrounding country of Italy implemented mandatory use of the pass to access places like bars and restaurants, gyms, theaters, museums, sporting events, and concerts.

France was the first EU nation to make proof of immunity mandatory to access a range of services and venues.

The Italian government announced Thursday it will widen the Green Pass requirement to all teachers, university students and long-distance transport beginning September 1.

United Airlines Latest US Company to Mandate Employee Vaccinations

United Airlines informed its U.S employees Friday they need to be vaccinated against COVID-19 by late October, becoming the first major airline to implement such a mandate.

In a memo to employees, United CEO Scott Kirby and President Brett Hart said while they realize some workers may disagree with their decision, “the facts are crystal clear: everyone is safer when everyone is vaccinated.”

Employees who fail to do so will be fired. The company says it will allow for religious or medical exemptions but will require documentation to prove them.

United has about 67,000 employees in the United States. The airline says about 90 percent of its pilots and 80 percent of its flight attendants are already vaccinated.

The airline joins a growing list of major employers that have implemented vaccine mandates.  Earlier this week, Microsoft announced it was also requiring workers to provide proof of a coronavirus vaccination before entering its U.S. offices.

Tuesday, U.S.-based Tyson Foods, one of the world’s largest meat-producing companies, said it is requiring all its employees to be fully vaccinated.

The federal government said in May it was legal for employers to require their workers to get vaccinated.

Chairman of GKSD, Kamel Ghribi, provides medical support to Algeria by donating equipment to support the fight against the COVID pandemic

GKSD responded to a call for assistance from His Excellency Ahmed Boutache the Ambassador of Algeria to Italy, with 12 palettes of PPE and oxygen concentrators.

MALPENSA, Italy and ALGIERS, Algeria, Aug. 06, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Yesterday, Algeria received a generous donation of anti-Covid medication and equipment.

In Algeria, from 3 January 2020 to 6:44pm CEST, 4 August 2021, there have been 175,229 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 4,370 deaths, reported to World Health Organization.

In the context of continuing support and solidarity between Italy and Algeria, GKSD President Kamel Ghribi responded to a call for assistance from His Excellency Ahmed Boutache the Ambassador of Algeria to Italy and the Hon. Mr. Ali REDJEl the Consul General of Algeria in Milan in the ongoing fight against Covid-19. The GKSD Chairman reiterated his belief that, “We have a duty to support all nations if we are to dominate COVID-19. His donation of essential medical equipment, oxygen supplies and medical oxygen concentrators will support Algeria to help fight the pandemic.”

Included in the 12 palettes received, there were oxygen concentrators, which are devices that concentrate the oxygen from a gas supply by selectively removing nitrogen to supply an oxygen-enriched product gas stream and several oxygen cylinders, which are high-pressure, non-reactive, seamless tempered steel containers for compressed gas (O2) used for medical, therapeutic or diagnostic purposes. It gives the provision of supplemental oxygen to maintain aerobic metabolism during patient transport. Badly needed PPE kits were also part of the shipment.

GKSD has recently also donated to Tunisia during the government transition, as violent Covid protests escalated in the streets.
