COVID-19 claims three more patients, infects 382 others

Karachi, January 01, 2022 (PPI-OT): As many as three more patients of Coronavirus died overnight lifting the death toll to 7,673 and 382 new cases emerged when 13,422 tests were conducted. This was stated by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in a statement issued here on Saturday. He added that three more patients of COVID-19 lost their lives, lifting the death toll to 7,673 that constituted 1.6 percent death rate.

Mr. Shah said that 13,422 samples were tested which detected 382 cases that constituted 2.8 percent current detection rate. He added that so far 7,143,868 tests have been conducted against which 481,207 cases were diagnosed, of them 97.3 percent or 468,063 patients have recovered, including 86 overnight. The CM said that currently 5,471 patients were under treatment, of them 5,291 were in home isolation, 40 at isolation centres and 140 at different hospitals. He added that the condition of 136 patients was stated to be critical, including 15 shifted to ventilators.

According to the statement, out of 382 new cases, 296 have been detected from Karachi, including 134 from South, 90 East, 36 Korangi, 18 Central, Malir 12 and West six. Hyderabad has 14, Thatta nine, Jamshoro and Naushero Feroze eight each, Matiari and Sujawal seven each, Umerkot, Dadu and Larkana four each, Sanghar and Tharparkar three each, Badin, Mirpurkhas, Shaheed Benazirabad and Thando Allahyar two each, Jacobabad and Tando Muhammad Khan one each.

Vaccination: Sharing vaccination data the CM said that 29,313,787 vaccinations have been administered upto December 31st, and added during the last 24 hours 265,684 vaccines were inoculated – in total 29,579,471 vaccines have administered which constituted 53.62 percent of the vaccine eligible population. The chief minister urged people of the province to follow SOPs.
