Indian police arrest noted HR activist Ahsan Untoo in Srinagar

Srinagar, January 14, 2022 (PPI-OT): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian police arrested noted human rights activist and Chairman of International Forum for Justice and Human Rights JK (IFJHRJK), Mohammad Ahsan Untoo, in Srinagar, today. The police arrested Muhammad Ahsan Untoo on the false charges of spreading false propaganda, disinformation campaign and hate speech through social media platforms.

A police spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said Muhammad Ahsan Untoo is an active participant and speaker at Twitter spaces titled “Radio Resistance Kashmir” led by two known Kashmiri Hurriyat leaders, Muzammil Ayyub Thakur and Dr Asif Dar.

He said these leaders, who are accused in several cases along with Ahsan Untoo, are actively spreading hatred against India on the social media platform. The police spokesman said the activities by Ahsan Untoo “amount to commission of cognizable offence by him.” He said that the police registered a case against Untoo and arrested him.
