Kayani calls for action against India, backs Dr Asif, Thakur

London, January 11, 2022 (PPI-OT):Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK President Fahim Kayani has said that the long arm of Indian state witch hunting Kashmiris in occupied Jammu and Kashmir is a slap in the face of promoters of human rights especially the western countries which choose to remain silent on India’s brazen violation of international law and fundamental rights in IIOJK.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Kayani in a statement issued in London said, “The Indian state has a vast network of agents donning different colours and are spread across world capitals to spy on Kashmiris from IIoJK which has resulted in framing of false cases against them.”

The statement by Kayani came in light of a botched-up case made on flimsy grounds to frame renowned Kashmiri rights activist and expert anaesthesiologist Dr Asif Maqbool Dar and UK-based Muzammil Ayyub Thakur, who leads World Kashmir Freedom Movement, an international advocacy group seeking freedom for IIoJK from Indian occupation.

“After enforcing graveyard silence in IIoJK by killing, maiming, injuring and jailing innocent, unarmed Kashmiris, the rogue Indian state is now after those Kashmiris and their allies who have become voice of conscience for the IIoJK,” Kayani said, condemning the fraud cases against Dr Dar and Thakur.

“It is a serious concern,” Kayani said, warning Indian agents can go to any extent regarding Kashmir as “Indian state has cultivated various sources in many capitals who keep an eye on Kashmiris and then report any kind of Kashmir activism to Indian missions.”

He urged the host governments to be wary of such nasty Indian actions. “These acts of Indian state violate the Vienna Conventions and are legally considered extra-judicial actions which can be tried in UN Security Council and International Court of Justice,” he added.

Lauding Dr Asif Maqbool Dar as an emerging leader in exile for the IIoJK, Kayani said: “the Indian state and their henchmen in IIoJK are frustrated because Dr Asif has been able to connect people on ground from the IIoJK to Kashmiri diaspora and their allies.

This has put up a challenge to Indian state because its war crimes committed in IIoJK are being exposed every day by Kashmiri diaspora through various means including on social media.” Kayani said the struggle of Kashmiris is taking different turn which demands innovative and pro-active approaches.

“It is more important now that Kashmiris forge unity in ranks to fight this fascist state which is our common enemy. We can’t wait more. Today, it is Dr Asif, tomorrow it can be any one of us,” he warned.

“Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK is open for joint rapid action program among Kashmiri diaspora groups to engage host governments on this serious issue where Indian state through its long arm is using tactics of harassment and attempts of extradition to try and frame false cases against Kashmiris,” Kayani said.

It is opportune time, said Kayani, to bring to fore the fascist acts of Modi-BJP government and tell the world how India is an apartheid state but is wearing a façade of democracy. Kayani said Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK has kept all of its resources available for Dr Asif and Mr Muzammil Ayyub Thakur, who is son of first Kashmiri first nuclear scientist, great thinker and activist Dr Ayyub Thakur.

“Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK believes a joint rapid action plan will help formulate a strong case against Indian state besides avoid wasting our precious resources,” Kayani said. “Let us put our minds and hands together to push India out of IIoJK.”

Islamabad, January 11, 2022 (PPI-OT):APHC-AJK leader Ghulam Muhammad Safi has termed the registration of a case under draconian law Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act against UK-based Kashmiri rights activist Muzammil Ayub Thakur by India through its agents in Srinagar as violation of the human rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

70 km long march against AFSPA, civilian killing by Indian Army in Nagaland

Kohima, January 11, 2022 (PPI-OT):Hundreds of Nagas joined a two-day walkathon from Nagaland’s commercial hub Dimapur to state capital Kohima. The participants walked a distance of more than 70 km, demanding the repeal of black law, Armed Force Special Power Act (AFSPA) and justice for the 14 civilians who were killed by the Indian army in Mon district.

The walkathon, which stemmed out of social media posts following the Mon killings, gained the support of various tribal bodies and civil society organisations in the state. It began from the Super Market area of Dimapur with volunteers and participants holding placards, demanding the repeal of the draconian law Armed Force Special Power Act (AFSPA) and justice for the victims.

Rukewezo Wetsah, one of the coordinators of the walkathon, said it was a peaceful, silent and democratic way to convey the resentment of the people over AFSPA, and reassert “our dignity as human beings”. Fourteen people were killed by Indian forces in Mon district over December 4 and 5, leading to outrage and renewing the demand for repeal of AFSPA.

The participants spent the night at Piphema, halfway to Kohima, before re-starting the march on Tuesday morning for the state capital. The Konyak Union, the main body of the tribe to which the victims belonged, had demanded that justice be done by January 10.

India pursuing Israeli model to convert Muslim majority IIOJK into minority

Srinagar, January 11, 2022 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, APHC leaders Syed Bashir Andrabi and Khawaja Firdous have said that India is pursuing Israeli pattern in Palestine to turn the Muslim majority Jammu and Kashmir into a minority.

Syed Bashir Andrabi and Khawaja Firdous in their statements issued in Srinagar said that India was settling non-Kashmiri Hindus and selling local land to Indian traders to effect the demographic change in the occupied territory.

They said that Jammu and Kashmir is an internationally-recognized disputed territory and in the presence of international law, it was illegal for the Indian government to allow any non-Kashmiri to buy and sell land in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Hurriyat leaders said that India was using clever tactics to suppress the Kashmiris’ freedom movement. They said that New Delhi was interested in the land and not in the welfare of the Kashmiri people. Indian troops have martyred many Kashmiri youth in fake encounters.

Bashir Andrabi and Khawaja Firdous said that evil intentions of the RSS-backed Modi government to turn the Muslim majority territory into a minority are not hiding from anyone. They deplored that BJP-RSS terrorists backed by Narendra Modi were openly threatening Muslims and other minorities in India and IIOJK.

The leaders appealed to the international community to play its role in preventing Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir and resolving the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the UN resolutions. APHC AJK leaders Syed Yousuf Naseem, Mir Tahir Masood, Hassan al Bana and Syed Aijaz Rehmani in a joint statement in Islamabad expressed serious concern over the killing of innocent Kashmiri youth in fake encounters in IIOJK.

They said that India since 1947 has been using brutal and military might acts against people of Kashmir to break their will and stand on resolution of the Kashmir dispute but has failed in its nefarious designs. They paid rich tributes to the martyrs of Kashmir.

Mehbooba vows to continue fight for Article 370, Kashmir settlement

Srinagar, January 11, 2022 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President, Mehbooba Mufti, has vowed to continue her struggle for the restoration of Article 370 and 35A of the Constitution besides a final settlement of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.

Talking to media after groups of people from Sonwar and Hazratbal joined her party in Srinagar, she said, “We will continue our struggle to restore our identity and settlement of the Kashmir issue for which thousands of people lost their lives, thousands of children became orphans and women became widows”. “We will continue our struggle until we achieve the logical goal,” she said. “Whatever the circumstances, we will face them undeterred.”

On Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Adityanath Yogi’s claim that the elections in Uttar Pradesh was a fight between Hindus and Muslims, Mehbooba said: “They have no agenda of development. That is why they are playing the Hindu-Muslim card. “Those who are praying for the killer of Mahatma Gandhi, what can you expect from them?” she asked.

She said all parties are holding rallies in Kashmir and only PDP workers are barred from offering “Fateha” on the grave of Mufti Mohammad Syed on the pretext of Covid-19. “Are Covid restrictions only for PDP?”

She said, the election agenda of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is based on dividing Hindus and Muslims of India, while the party has nothing to offer on developmental front and other issues. They only have one agenda in their hands which is rioting between Hindus and Muslims of the country.

They only want to break the harmony between the two communities by stoking communal flares and that’s why they are attacking the age-old communal harmony of the nation only for elections,” she said this while talking to reporters at the party office in Srinagar. She said the PDP, formed with a vision provided by her father Mufti Mohammad Syed, will play a “vital role” to restore Kashmir’s identity and to end killings in the state.

Following EFSA Ban of Food Additive Titanium Dioxide (TiO2), Blue California Launches Clean-label Food Grade Whitening Agents as Alternatives

Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., Jan. 11, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Following food authority EFSA’s ban of food additive titanium dioxide (TiO2), Blue California, the producer of natural science-based ingredients, launched novel food-grade whitening agents as a clean-label alternative to replacing potential health risk white colorant titanium dioxide.

“Brands that seek to replace the titanium dioxide white colorant will find many benefits to Blue California’s patent-pending food-grade whitening agents,” said Cuie Yan, Ph.D., vice president of encapsulation. “Our alternative to titanium dioxide is industry-changing with opacifying or whitening effects and excellent sensory benefits with a delicious creamy/rich mouthfeel, and contains proprietary ingredients that may have additional benefits such as supporting cognitive health.”

One of the most widely used food pigments is titanium dioxide (E171), an odorless powder that enhances foods’ white color or opacity. The most common titanium dioxide products are chewing gum, candies, pastries, chocolates, coffee creamers, and cake decorations. Titanium dioxide is also used as a pigment in paints and medicines.

In recent decades, concerns about the risks of titanium dioxide consumption have grown. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) categorizes titanium dioxide as Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) at a maximum of 1% weight, but other organizations have issued warnings.

New governing rules in Europe are in action for producers to reformulate their products during a six-month window of phasing out titanium dioxide (E171). This follows the food authority European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) decision deeming titanium dioxide (E171) as “not safe” in 2021, and now a complete ban in 2022. France suspended the use of titanium dioxide in January 2020.

“Our clean-label, food-grade, and effective whitening agents are heat and pH stable for a variety of applications that match the performance of titanium dioxide yet overcome its safety concerns,” said Yan. “We’ve innovated these solutions as safe alternatives for brands that need to reformulate products rapidly due to government authorities concerns, bans, and phasing out titanium dioxide.”

Blue California’s patent-pending food-grade whitening powders have a similar size in diameter to the traditional titanium dioxide with higher L values (whiter), as shown in Table 1 below:

Table 1. Color and particle size comparison between Blue California’s novel food-grade whitening agents versus titanium dioxide whitening powder.

Sample ID Color Measurement Redispersion Diameter
L a b nm
Titanium Dioxide (reference) 96.06 -0.26 1.54 310.5
Novel Food Grade Whitening 1 97.42 -0.09 1.45 266.4
Novel Food Grade Whitening 2 97.43 -0.09 1.95 278.2
Novel Food Grade Whitening 3 97.48 -0.11 1.43 305.0

Note: The a and b ‘Color Measurement’ values are color depth markers of red, green, blue, and yellow. The ‘Redispersion Diameter’ measures the particle size.

The food-grade whitening agents have been tested in chewing gum compared to titanium dioxide. The whitening effect results of Blue California’s whitening agents are as remarkable as titanium dioxide. The whiteness increases as the dosage increases.

“We’re ready to collaborate with product developers to replace titanium dioxide with a clean-label, delicious, and safer whitening agents in their product lines,” said Yan.
