Government provides Rs132b subsidy on fertilizers: Jamshed Iqbal

Islamabad, January 29, 2022 (PPI-OT):Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Food Security Jamshed Iqbal Cheema has said that the government has provided a subsidy worth 132 billion rupees on fertilizers. Addressing a press conference in Lahore today (Saturday), he said over one hundred thousand tons of fertilizers will soon be imported from China. He said the government is providing a significant subsidy on gas to fertilizers’ manufacturing factories.

Jamshed Iqbal Cheema said provision of flour at a lower price to people is one of the top priorities of the government. He urged people to lodge complaints against those who are selling the flour at higher than fixed rates. The SAPM said sugar production will witness a remarkable increase in comparison with the past. He said at present, the country has a stock of 4.6 million tons of wheat.

Government making efforts to harness Pakistan’s potential as a geo-economic hub: PM

Islamabad, January 29, 2022 (PPI-OT):Prime Minister Imran Khan says relations with China are the cornerstone of Pakistan’s foreign policy which is enjoying support across the political spectrum. In an article published by Chinese daily “Global Times”, he said Pakistan-China partnership is unparalleled among inter-state relations.

The Prime Minister said history of friendship between the two countries is a unique account of unwavering mutual support, trust and respect. He said China has lately become Pakistan’s largest trade and investment partner and bilateral trade between the two countries reached historic levels last year.

Referring to the situation in Afghanistan, the Prime Minister stressed the need of international community’s engagement to avoid economic meltdown and avert humanitarian crisis in that country. He said the instability and turmoil that plagued Afghanistan for the past 20 years have come to close with a hope of peace finally returning to the region.

The Prime Minister said it is our common vision that enduring peace in South Asia is contingent on maintaining a strategic balance in the region. He stressed that all outstanding issues like border questions and Kashmir dispute should be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy and as per norms of international law.

Imran Khan said Pakistan is charting a new path for robust and sustainable development and making efforts to harness its potential as a geo-economics hub. He said the new National Security Policy of Pakistan centers on his government’s vision of people-centric approach for ensuring their prosperity, fundamental rights and social justice.

7963 new cases of Covid-19 surface in country

Islamabad, January 29, 2022 (PPI-OT):7963 new cases of Covid-19 have surfaced in the country with positivity rate remaining 11.31 percent. According to National Command and Operation Center, 70389 tests were carried out over the last twenty-four hours. Twenty-seven patients also died of the virus during this period.

World Economic Forum endorses Pakistan’s socio-economic policies

Islamabad, January 29, 2022 (PPI-OT):The World Economic Forum has endorsed the government’s socio-economic policies, saying Pakistan has shown tremendous progress and achievements by initiating more future oriented policies and approaches.

The executive opinion data shared by the World Economic Forum with the country partner institute, Mishal Pakistan, showed that Pakistan’s value scored on more than 148 indicators. It said Pakistan has shown global leadership by initiating programs for poverty alleviation, universal health delivery services, environmental protection, improving human capital and curbing corruption.

The government’s short term and long-term vision has shown improvements as it is four point four two [4.42] this year from three point eight eight [3.88] last year. Pakistan has also shown global leadership in putting more emphasis on human dignity and social capital values through its Ehsaas Program.

Pakistan launch customized guide on cross-border electronic evidence

Islamabad, January 29, 2022 (PPI-OT):Pakistan has launched Customized Practical Guide on Requesting Evidence Across Border to combat drugs and crimes. The Practical Guide was launched at an event jointly organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the UN Office on Drugs and Crimes in Islamabad. It has been developed under the Pakistan Action to Counter-Terrorism project with support of key partners, including the European Union.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Foreign Secretary Sohail Mahmood said the government is fully aware of the threats posed by misuse of the cyber space. He said in line with the new cyber security policy, the government is committed to modernize its systems, enhance their efficiency, and improve digital connectivity.

Government not afraid of opposition’s planned long march: Farrukh

Islamabad, January 29, 2022 (PPI-OT):Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Farrukh Habib says the government is not afraid of long march being planned by the Opposition in March. In an interview, he said the Opposition parties have differences among themselves and they are not able to topple the government. The Minister of State asked Pakistan Muslim League-N, leader Shehbaz Sharif to disclose sources of illegal transaction found in his bank accounts.

Chief of Army Staff calls for unity to counter disinformation campaign by hostile forces

Islamabad, January 29, 2022 (PPI-OT):Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa has stressed the need of unity to counter the disinformation campaign of hostile forces. He expressed these views while interacting with teachers and students of various educational institutions, including LUMS, FCU, UET, LSE, PU and GCU, at Lahore Corps Headquarters. General Qamar Javed Bajwa said spreading misinformation not only effects perception management but also threatens integrity of state.

The Army Chief appreciated the role of these premier educational institutions in preparing the future leadership and useful citizens. He said there is a dire need of human development in the fields of education, health, infrastructure and environment.
