Construction companies working at snail’s pace on closed Srinagar-Jammu highway

Jammu, January 24, 2022 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Jammu-Srinagar highway has turned into a goldmine for the Indian companies who are entrusted with the task of carrying out the repairs or widening of the highway.

The companies are carrying out the work at a snail’s pace as if they have nothing to do with the miseries of the local Kashmiri people and there is no accountability for the work being carried out by them. The widening of the road has already missed many deadlines and the authorities revise the same from time to time.

Although, the people at helm claim that the highway is through even during the inclement weather the situation on the ground is totally contrary. The highway gets closed as soon as there are rains at any location. The closure of the highway leads to problems for the commuters as well as transporters.

The people who are stranded blame that they get the food and the other things at exorbitant rates and said that the administration does not take any action against the profiteers. They said their problems get compounded as and when they get stranded adding that accountability has gone for a huge toss.

Return our land back or be ready to face farmers like protest, Gujjar-Bakarwal members warn India

Jammu, January 24, 2022 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the demolition drive carried out by the local face of Modi-led Indian regime in Roop Nagar area of Jammu region has triggered massive resentment among the Gujjar-Bakarwal community.

The Muslim community members are staging a protest in demanding that their rights be restored. “We have been living in the area prior to 1947 and were allowed by all the regimes to exist peacefully. But the present dispensation has displaced us. For the past 13-days we have been sitting on sit-it (dharna). No one from the administration has come forward to know what we are facing.”

The officials, they complained, have turned their backs towards them and seem least bothered about their plight. The protesting Gujjar-Bakarwal community members urged the Indian regime to return their land and warned to spread their agitation like farmers protest in case the regime fails to fulfill their demand.
