Along with Muslim-Yadav equation, Samajwadi Party engaging other castes to defeat BJP in UP

New Delhi, December 11, 2021 (PPI-OT):The Samajwadi Party (SP), in India under its new strategy for the early next year Assembly polls, has stitched alliances with small parties besides eyeing the Muslim-Yadav (MY) equation. The 2022 Assembly polls are important for the SP as it has faced defeat thrice in the elections in the state.

In the 2017 polls, the BJP had worked even on booth levels, formed alliances with smaller parties, managed the caste equations and reaped its dividends. Taking cue from the BJP, the SP has so far formed alliances with small parties Suheldev Bhartiya Samaj Party, Rashtriya Lok Dal, Mahan Dal, Janwadi Party and the Apna Dal (kameravadi).

Recently, Aam Aadmi Party Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh met SP chief Akhilesh Yadav. Akhilesh told media that the situation was entirely different in 2014, 2017 and 2019, but in 2022, it has changed a lot. He claimed that the people of the state will root out the BJP in the polls.

In the 2017 polls, the BJP and its allies bagged 3.59 crore votes and emerged victorious on 325 seats, the SP got 1.89 crore votes and won on 47 seats while the Congress got 54 lakh votes and won on seven seats only. Political situation is, however, different this time. Om Prakash Rajbhar’s Suheldev Bhartiya Samaj Party, which was a coalition partner of the BJP, has allied with the SP this time. The Congress has also not allied with the SP this time. The biggest challenge the SP is facing is to bridge the gap of almost 1.7 crore votes.

SP’s former MP and an important family member of the Yadav family claimed that “vote difference is not a big issue as we had made the government in 2012”. Dharmendra accused the BJP of fooling the people in the 2017 polls, saying the saffron party projected members of all castes as the chief minister’s candidate, but after winning the polls, it made someone else the Chief Minister. This time, these parties will not get influenced by the BJP, he opined.

Akhilesh said that the farmers, youths, traders and the entire public is with the SP this time. Dharmendra said that the SP was getting support from all quarters. Counting the achievements of the Akhilesh Yadav’s government during 2012 to 2017, Dharmendra said famers, women, Dalit, OBC, all sections of the society will vote for the SP.

Despite AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi entering the fray, Akhilesh is confident of his Muslim vote bank. Dharmendra said, every political party want to contest the polls, but this time Akhilesh magic is sweeping the state. The SP is constantly trying to stung the BJP by holding election rallies and mobilising huge crowds. Akhilesh is trying to tell his supporters that he is ready to fight heavyweights like Prime Minister Narenda Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Posters draw world’s attention to Modi regime’s conspiracy in IIOJK

Srinagar, December 11, 2021 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, posters appeared in different areas of Srinagar, drawing the attention of the world community towards the Narendra Modi-led Indian government’s anti-Kashmir conspiracy in the territory.

The posters displayed by Students Youth Forum and Kashmir Resistance Movement said that that Modi-led Indian government is using the so-called Delimitation Commission to commit pre-poll rigging to empower non-state Hindu extremist Bharatiya Janata Party through manipulated elections for the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly.

The posters maintained that the Modi regime’s Hindutva policy is dangerous for Kashmir and its generation by which it wants to subdue the Kashmiris’ freedom sentiment and crushing their righteous demand of right to self-determination. The posters appealed people to forge unity among their ranks to frustrate the BJP-RSS agenda in the territory.

Modi regime intensifies its Hindutva agenda of RSS in IIOJK

Srinagar, December 11, 2021 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Narendra Modi-led fascist Indian government has intensified the implementation of the nefarious agenda of extremist Hindu organization Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) of creating communal discard in the territory.

In its latest move, the Modi regime has identified 19 locations in the Kashmir Valley to build 6,000 flats for the displaced Kashmiri Pandits who have returned or want to return to the Valley for the job. The project is a part of Indian Prime Minister’s Development Package (PMDP) in which New Delhi was supposed to provide 6,000 government jobs and the construction of 6,000 transit accommodations to the displaced Kashmiri Pandits. The total cost of the package has been estimated at Rs 920 crore.

Reportedly, of 19 identified locations, the IIOJK administration, in the first phase of the project, has started building the flats on five locations that include Wandhama, Bandipora, Baramulla, Badgam and Qazigund. The construction work on all the 19 locations would be completed at the end of next year. However, Srinagar-based news portal The Kashmir Walla citing sources reported that only two projects have been completed so far – one in Vessu Qazigund and another in Sheikhpora Badgam.

On December 5, Lieutenant General Manoj Sinha in an interview said that several measures were being taken for the return of Kashmiri Pandits, and after this winter season, they would be permanently settled in the valley. In 2020, the Indian Home Ministry under “Naya Kashmir” blueprint for Kashmiri Pandits had assured ten special townships to be created in ten districts of the Valley for the rehabilitation of the minority community. The Naya Kashmir blueprint also comprises renovation and rebuilding of temples in all the 10 districts.

The political experts and analysts as well as Hurriyat leaders believe that the Modi government wants to change the demographic composition of IIOJK by settling Indian Hindus in the territory in the garb of rehabilitation of displaced Kashmiri Pandits. They are also of the opinion that extremist Hindus and members of RSS will be brought to IIOJK to further the Hindutva agenda of the Modi regime. Hurriyat leadership is opposing the separate colonies for the displaced Kashmiris and wants their return to their ancestral homes in the Kashmir Valley.

Man holding child in arms beaten brutally by Indian Police, video sparks outrage

New Delhi, December 11, 2021 (PPI-OT):A shocking video, showing an Indian police official brutally thrashing a man holding a child in his arms in Kanpur Dehat’s Akbarpur area in Uttar Pradesh, has gone viral on social media triggering outrage.

The two videos circulated on social media are said to be from Kanpur Dehat showing several cops first beating a person and then a policeman is seen lashing baton repeatedly on him as he carries the child in his arm. People can be heard in the background, “the child may get hurt”. The baby can be seen crying in the video.

As the video went viral triggering outrage, the police came out with a statement saying ‘mild force’ was used. The police, however, said that such behaviour by the police is not acceptable and ADG Zone Kanpur has been directed to investigate the matter and take appropriate action against the guilty policemen.

The video evoked angry reactions from people including disgruntled BJP leader Varun Gandhi who wrote in a tweet in Hindi, “A strong law and order is where the weakest of the weak can get justice. It is not that those seeking justice have to face this barbarity in place of justice, it is very painful. Strong law and order is that, where there is fear of law, Not the police.” He also shared the video of the incident.

Former UN judge urges Pakistan to constitute independent tribunal on Kashmir

Islamabad, December 11, 2021 (PPI-OT):Former United Nations Judge, Justice Ali Nawaz Chowhan has called upon Pakistan to constitute an independent tribunal for Kashmir in Turkey under the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

Addressing colloquium titled ‘All Human, All Equal’ on ‘Equality’ – the UN-designated theme for International Human Rights Day 2021, he said, Lawfare shall be employed against India because Pakistan cannot fight another battle. Kashmir is a disputed territory, usurped by India is bringing about demographic changes in Kashmir, which need to be countered legally.

The conference was organised by Islamabad Institute of Conflict Resolution (IICR), an Islamabad based think tank, in collaboration with Legal Forum for Kashmir (LFK), an international advocacy group for Kashmir, and Institute of Research and Reforms (IRR).

The event was moderated by Ms Sabah Aslam, Executive Director IICR. The panellists included Justice Ali Nawaz Chowhan, the former Judge at United Nations, Dr Farzana Bari, Ex-Director, Center of Excellence Gender Studies (Quaid-e-Azam University) and a Human Rights Activist, Dr Sameera Associate Professor National Defence University Islamabad, Sheikh Abdul Mateen, Representative of the Chairman All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Mukhtar Baba, media coordinator Muslim League Jammu Kashmir and a journalist from Indian Occupied Kashmir; Ambassador Bou said Al Haissam, International Human Rights Commission (IHRC) UN Geneva, Advocate Nasir Qadri Executive Director Legal Forum for Kashmir, Senator A. Rehman Malik, Former Interior Minister and Chairman Institute of Research and Reforms (IRR).

Justice Ali Nawaz Chowhan called for constituting an independent tribunal for Kashmir in Turkey under the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). “Why does not Pakistan invoke R2P for the solution of the protracted Kashmir issue,” he added. He said that the Azad Jammu Kashmir Government, should become a perennial voice for Kashmiris worldwide.

He further said that Kashmir is an unfinished story; Pakistan will continue until the completion of the story i.e. merger of Kashmir with Pakistan. Speaking at the event, Dr Farzana Bari said the Human Rights Violation in Kashmir is unprecedented, and it is the resilience of Kashmiris which keeps the issue alive. She added that the UN has been unable to resolve the Palestinian conflict and is becoming irrelevant for the people at the receiving end of violence.

Pakistan must garner support from the international community to highlight the atrocities carried out by India against the Kashmiris. “Kashmir belongs to Kashmiris, the Kashmiris must be allowed to decide their fate,” she added.

Dr Sameera, an Associate Professor at National Defence University, said Kashmir is an unfinished agenda under the UN resolutions. The only solution for Kashmir is to secede with any of the two countries; no third solution is possible as per historical documents.

Emphasis must be laid on internationalism and resolution of the Kashmir issue under UN resolutions. No one can be subject to authority without prior consent, which aligns with the idea of peace. The consent must be granted to the Kashmiris in the right of self-determination to choose according to their aspirations.

The abrogation of art 370, 35A, violation of human rights, is a grave form of atrocities employed by Indian authorities in Kashmir. We urge the world human rights bodies to take account of the same.

While addressing the event through video-conferencing, Ambassador Bou Said Al Haissam, Special Representative IHRC UN Geneva, while addressing the event through video link, optimism as the mainframe of work and UN aims to work hard towards no tolerance of human rights violation.

“Kashmir issue is older than Palestine issue, the world politics lack resolve, we can’t compromise over rights, and rights are non-negotiable.” There are obstacles in solving the Kashmir issue; we cannot reach a solution bypassing history. It has to be a hundred per cent in favour of one of the parties. Kashmir belongs to Pakistan and should go back to Pakistan.

He also urged the Kashmiri and the Pakistani organisations to cooperate in finding solutions acceptable to the international community, He added that Pakistan should make its position better and try to have some head points so that the plans could be acceptable to the international community.

Sheikh Abdul Mateen highlighted the atrocities and human rights violations in IOJK, saying that the atrocities have increased manifold in Kashmir. Kashmiris have been promised the right to self-determination but are still deprived of it.

“UN has published reports about unabated human rights violations in Kashmir. All Parties Hurriyat Conference Chairman Masarat Alam Bhatt has been incarcerated in Tihar Jail. He has spent 25 years in prison, about 40 PSAs against him were quashed by various courts in IIOJK.”

He further highlighted that Kashmiri prisoners, including women, have been incarcerated in Indian jails post unilateral abrogation of article 370, 35A on Aug 5 2019. He added that India had employed state terrorism, judicial terrorism, and economic terrorism against innocent Kashmiris.

He called for an amicable solution for Kashmir, a permanent solution by addressing the problem as per the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. While highlighting the atrocities carried out by Indian armed forces against Kashmiris, Mukhtar Baba said that Kashmiris are the worst victims of human rights violations.

He further added, “The Kashmiris are being killed, maimed and tortured. Our women are being raped, molested. Our men are killed and jailed. Our children are suffering.” He further testimonies how he was jailed and tortured by Indian occupational forces.

“What was my crime, I believed in a democratic set up but was deprived of my rights, I chose to pick up the gun for self-defence and the struggle for right of self-determination, I was tortured and jailed,” he added.

Former interior minister Rahman Malik said that Kashmir and Palestine are two places where human rights are being openly violated, and humanity is being humiliated, but the United Nations and other human rights organisations are silent spectators. He expressed that Heart bleeds to see the oppressed people of Kashmir and Palestine whose voices are going unheard by world powers, including the United Nations.

He said that UN Human Rights Commission reported on Jun 14, 2018, that alone, from January 1989 till Jan 31 2018, 94,700 Kashmiris were killed, 8,000 killed in custody, and 11,050 women were killed gang-raped and 7,485 were injured by pellets.

Senator A. Rehman Malik, in the end, moved a resolution urging the UN to take notice of human rights violations in Indian Occupied Kashmir which was unanimously adopted. The resolution is reproduced.

“The Institute of Research and Reforms (IRR), Institute of Conflict Resolution (IICR) and Legal Forum for Kashmir (LFK) and the participants, today on International Human Rights Day strongly condemn the unprecedented atrocities, discrimination, inequality and human rights violations by India against the oppressed people of Indian Illegally Occupied Kashmir (IIOK). We demand the immediate release of all arrested and detained Kashmiri leaders, professionals and activities, including the abducted young boys.

The forum appeals to the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights to establish a UN Inquiry Commission to investigate human rights violations, discriminations and crimes against humanity in Jammu and Kashmir by Indian Forces. This forum unanimously recommends that the Government of Pakistan should move a resolution to the United Nations urging to implement the UNSC Resolutions of granting the right to self-determination to the people of Kashmir.”

The event ended with the vote of thanks by Advocate Nasir Qadri, Executive Director Legal Forum for Kashmir (LFK). He thanked all the panellists and participants for being part of the colloquium.
