IGP listens to complaints of citizens, transgender community

Islamabad, December 29, 2021 (PPI-OT):Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Muhammad Ahsan Younus on Tuesday directed all police officials to resolve the public complaints on priority and directed to take practical steps to set up ‘protection center’ for transgender community. During an ‘Open Court’ especially held on Tuesday with the purpose to listen issues of policemen and citizens, the IGP directed relevant police officials to resolve their issues and gave them time frame for the purpose.

Islamabad police chief said that it is our prime responsibility to provide protection to the lives and property of the citizens and resolve their problems on priority. He said that citizens at ‘Open Court’ should be behaved in a respectful manner and their trust on police department to be won through resolving their issues. He said that interaction with people also ensures accountability of the policemen and they should address public complaints on merit by considering them their own issues.

He said that positive image of policemen should be ensured before them through unbiased approach towards anyone. The IGP hoped that interaction during ‘open kutcheries’ would help to promote friendly policing. Such interaction with citizens are aimed to promote community policing, resolve the issues of people at their door steps through merit and curb activities of anti-social elements, he added.

Corporate sector yielding positive result due to PM’s business friendly policies: Farrukh 

Islamabad, December 29, 2021 (PPI-OT):Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Farrukh Habib says the corporate sector made a profit of 929 billion rupees during the last year as a result of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s business friendly policies. In a tweet on Wednesday, he said during the PML-N government in 2018, the profit was 587 billion rupees.

The Minister of State said seventy thousand new companies were registered with 44 percent increase during the PTI government; whereas 25,856 companies got registered in the PML-N’s five-year term. In the first three quarters of the current fiscal year, these companies have registered a profit of 258 billion rupees.

Farrukh Habib said new records have been set during the three years of the PTI government. He said despite the COVID-19 pandemic, 494 percent growth was witnessed in real estate sector, 194 percent in information technology and 136 percent in tourism sector.

IT Minister inaugurates Software Technology Park in Rawalpindi

Islamabad, December 29, 2021 (PPI-OT):Minister for Information Technology Amin-ul-Haque inaugurated Software Technology Park in Rawalpindi on Wednesday. Addressing the inaugural ceremony, he said Software Technology Parks will also be established in Gujrat, Gujranwala, Abbottabad and Mansehra to promote education and employment opportunities for the youth in IT sector.

The Minister highlighted the government’s IT related initiatives in Gilgit-Baltistan where young students benefited from entrepreneurships and have become financially self-reliant. He said there is a need to provide better facilities to the youth like IT parks all across the country. He stressed for enlightening the youth with modern education and trends of information technology.

FM calls for shifting Pakistan’s foreign policy to changing global trends

Islamabad, December 29, 2021 (PPI-OT):Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has emphasized the need for shifting Pakistan’s foreign policy to respond to changing global trends and sovereignty, territorial integrity and development of the country. He was addressing passing out ceremony of 41st diplomatic course for Foreign Service Probationers at Foreign Service Academy, Islamabad on Wednesday.

The Foreign Minister said we have re-oriented the thrust of our diplomatic efforts towards economic benefit and prosperity by putting forward a ‘Strategic Engagement Plan’ with the European Union and the ‘Strategic Economic Framework’ with Turkey. He said we have also launched ‘Engage Africa’ initiative to explore untapped markets and opportunities.

The Foreign Minister said the government is committed to give esteem to overseas Pakistanis and serve them wholeheartedly. He urged the probationers to be mindful of the opportunities and challenges presented by the digital age. Shah Mahmood Qureshi said the world has entered the era of battles of narratives and information warfare. He added that a huge shift in the role of media, its impact on all spheres of life and modern technology is being used to influence opinions and push agendas.

Information Minister visits Board of Investment

Steps being taken for recycling solid waste in Islamabad: Senate informed 

Islamabad, December 29, 2021 (PPI-OT):Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan says Capital Development Authority (CDA) is taking substantial steps for recycling solid waste in Islamabad. Responding to a question in Question Hour in the Senate on Wednesday, he said one thousand garbage trolleys and two hundred skips have been placed in different areas for waste collection in the capital city.

The Minister of State said currently fifteen hundred employees are working for cleanliness and over nine hundred persons will be recruited soon. The Minister of State said the government is also taking steps to keep drinking water clean. Responding to another question, he said traffic police in Islamabad is taking strict measures against the violators. He said safe city cameras are also active in this regard and E-Challans are issued to violators.

To another question, Ali Muhammad Khan said the government has introduced a fifteen hundred billion rupees project, Kamyab Pakistan Program, to uplift the poor segment of the society. Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan responding to a Calling Attention notice by Senator Mushtaq Ahmed said the government is committed to reform railways to facilitate passengers.

He said Railways has generated 48 billion rupees revenue in a year. Ali Muhammad Khan said the Ministry of Railways has been making efforts to ensure safety and security of the tracks. He said 156 unauthorized crossings and forty unmanned crossings have been closed to avoid any accidents. He said the accident ratio has also declined.

The Minister of State said train timings and punctuality improved from 63 percent to 80 percent in the last year. Responding to a question regarding working of External Publicity Wing of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Adviser on Parliamentary Affairs Babar Awan said EPW arranges numerous programs to express solidarity with people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

He said EPW has been playing a key role in highlighting the issue of Kashmir worldwide. Leader of the House Dr. Shahzad Waseem said the government of Imran Khan has introduced the first ever National Security Policy of the country. Commenting on a point of order raised by Senator Sherry Rehman, he said the opposition was invited to review and propose suggestions to improve national security policy paper. He said unfortunately, the opposition did not attend the parliamentary meetings.

Health insurance card across country to be launched next month: Faisal 

Islamabad, December 29, 2021 (PPI-OT):Health insurance card covering entire population of the country will be launched next month. This was stated by Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health Dr Faisal Sultan while addressing a ceremony at the under-construction Mother and Child Hospital in Rawalpindi today.

He said the hospital will provide a state of the art neo-natal intensive care unit, MRI and other diagnostic facilities to people under one roof. The Special Assistant said the health card project will help people bear the burden of medical expenditures. He said it is a reflection of service delivery on part of government for the people.
