A 12-member delegation of Anjuman-E-Tajiran Shah Alam market union called on IG Punjab Rao Sardar Ali Khan at Central Police Office

Lahore, December 14, 2021 (PPI-OT): Inspector General of Police Punjab Rao Sardar Ali Khan has said that maintaining conducive atmosphere of law and order in the society and providing compatible environment for business activities is the primary responsibility of Punjab Police which will be ensured in all cases.

He said that the doors of my office are always open for the business community. In case of any problem or complaint, any businessman can visit me while I myself will be in close touch with the business community. He directed RPOs and DPOs to listen directly to problems of traders’ organizations in their districts and ensure priority measures for their redressal.

IG Punjab said that if there is a complaint of harassment of a businessman or trader, strict action would be taken immediately and no negligence or irresponsibility would be tolerated. Rao Sardar Ali Khan directed CCPO Lahore to hold regular meetings with business associations of the city and provide them all possible assistance.

IGP also emphasized upon to improve security and traffic management issues in the major markets of the city through effective supervision. He said that traders are a valuable asset and all available resources would be utilized for safety and provision of services to them. He expressed these views during a meeting with a 12-member delegation of Anjuman-e-Tajiran Shah Alam Market Union at the Central Police Office here today. During the meeting, members of Anjuman-e-Tajiran Union and business personalities apprised IG Punjab of their problems.

Talking to the representatives of the business community, IG Punjab said that Punjab Police are taking steps under an effective strategy to maintain an atmosphere of law and order in the society. Patrolling hours of Dolphin, Peru and other patrol forces in sensitive areas are being enhanced whereas action plan has been expedited to curb street crime.

He said that in case of any problem faced by the business community, they should immediately inform local police on 15 and offices of the supervisory officers are also available for their redressal where they would be provided service delivery without any hassle. Members of Anjuman-e-Tajiran Shah Alam Market Union thanked IG Punjab for assuring cooperation.

Branchless banking: Asaan mobile account scheme launched

Islamabad, December 14, 2021 (PPI-OT): With the aim to bring unbanked population into formal banking services, the Asaan Mobile Account (AMA) scheme was formally launched, through joint efforts of Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), on 13th December 2021 in a ceremony held at SBP Headquarters, Karachi.

Governor SBP, Dr. Reza Baqir and Member (Finance) PTA, Mr. Muhammad Naveed were present at the launching event. Virtually addressing the ceremony, Chairman PTA, Maj General Amir Azeem Bajwa (R) said that with the launch of National Financial Inclusion Strategy (NFIS), Government of Pakistan remains committed to strengthen the digital eco system for payments and financial inclusion in Pakistan.

PTA’s role as one of the key implementers of the NFIS resulted in PTA and SBP teaming together for first ever regulatory framework for mobile banking interoperability in 2016. PTA and SBP also worked with relevant stakeholders to facilitate remote digital on-boarding.

Chairman PTA added that this scheme will also play a pivotal role in women’s economic empowerment thereby improving their socio-economic status in the country. He congratulated SBP, commercial banks, Cellular Mobile Operators (CMOs) and VRG on successfully launching the AMA Scheme. He said that with significant population of Pakistan being unbanked, the AMA Scheme will go a long way, as ubiquitous financial services will now be available and accessible to a huge market of over 187 million biometrically verified SIMs and subscribers.

The AMA scheme was designed with the objective to provide easy, swift, secure and cost-effective channel for accessing financial services with complete interoperability among operators and financial institutions. The scheme powered by a unified USSD platform, allows opening of mobile banking account by dialling a simple code *2262# from any mobile phone (smart or feature phone) using a SIM of any mobile operator and making transactions without the need for internet connectivity. This scheme also has a broader objective of financial inclusion in the country, which is at the heart of all efforts of the government for a growing, stable and documented economy.

Telenor Pakistan’s license renewal

Islamabad, December 14, 2021 (PPI-OT): Telenor Pakistan (Pvt.) Ltd has signed renewed license with Pakistan Telecom Authority. The license signing was held at PTA HQs on 10th Dec 2021.The signing was due since 2019.

Renewed License has enhanced terms and conditions for coverage and Quality of Service, as established during the recent Pakistan Spectrum Auction. The license is renewed at a price of USD 449.2 Million for 15 years, out of which Telenor Pakistan has already paid USD 333.64 Million on account of license renewal fee and applicable mark-up.

Pakistan committed to eradicate terrorism: Farrukh Habib

Islamabad, December 14, 2021 (PPI-OT): Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Farrukh Habib says Pakistan is committed to eradicate terrorism and its armed forces and security agencies are thwarting the nefarious designs of terrorists.

In a statement, he strongly condemned terrorist attack on Abdoi Sector Post on the Pak-Iran border in Balochistan province. Farrukh Habib said Pakistan Army is making all possible efforts to make border security more effective.

Pakistan, Iraq vow to strengthen bilateral relations in diverse fields

Islamabad, December 14, 2021 (PPI-OT): Pakistan and Iraq have reiterated the resolve to strengthen bilateral relations in different spheres including economy and business. The resolve was expressed during a meeting between Iraq’s ambassador to Pakistan Hamid Abbas Lafta and Adviser to Prime Minister on Finance and Revenue Shaukat Tarin in Islamabad on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Shaukat Tarin expressed keen interest in deepening the bilateral relations in oil and gas sector besides enhancing the quantum of trade between the two countries. The Iraqi Ambassador highlighted historical relations between both the countries and said that Iraq was among the first countries to recognize Pakistan. Both sides discussed different aspects of fraternal relations between Pakistan and Iraq and expressed their satisfaction over the latest developments in this regard.

Ehsaas Rashan Program receiving overwhelming response from public

Islamabad, December 14, 2021 (PPI-OT): Ehsaas Rashan Program is receiving an overwhelming response from the public as over nine million families have registered themselves to seek support from this program. According to government statistics, so far over 10,000 retail units have also been registered with the program.

It is pertinent to mention that the Ehsaas Rashan program is being introduced on the direct instructions of Prime Minister Imran Khan. Under this program, 20 million families with income below 50,000 rupees and those who fall below a certain poverty score will be entitled to receive a discount of a 1000 rupees every month on purchase of flour, pulses, cooking oil and ghee.

India uses digital warfare for anti-Pakistan propaganda: Fawad

Islamabad, December 14, 2021 (PPI-OT): Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhary Fawad Hussain says the current age is an era of narratives and information has a pivotal role in this scenario. Addressing a ceremony in Islamabad on Tuesday, he said wars in the past were fought for plundering but war morality has changed now.

The Minister for Information said India has been using digital warfare through means of communication especially social media for anti-Pakistan propaganda across the world. He said propaganda based narratives are used as mode of warfare to economically paralyze countries.

Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said unfortunately we have not strengthened our institutions like the external publicity wing of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and our film industry which can be used in advancing and propagating our narratives at the international level.
