Foreign Minister Qureshi thanks all departments for successfully conducting OIC meeting 

Islamabad, December 20, 2021 (PPI-OT):Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has thanked all departments including National Assembly, Senate Secretariats, Pakistan Military and people linked with the Foreign Office for successfully conducting the 17th Extraordinary Meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) of OIC.

In statement on Monday, he said the participation of 20 Foreign Ministers and 10 Deputy Foreign Ministers in the Extraordinary Meeting of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers is a great achievement for Pakistan. The Foreign Minister said around 437 delegates attended this historic meeting held in Pakistan and we succeeded in establishing a trust fund for Afghanistan.

He said we also introduced resolution to revive Afghanistan’s banking system which is a great development. The Foreign Minister said from a public perspective, the United States should reconsider its decision regarding Afghanistan. He also thanked the local and foreign media who reported this Extraordinary Meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of OIC.

SOF of Pakistan, Turkey Navy participate in bilateral exercise ‘Eldiz’ 

Islamabad, December 20, 2021 (PPI-OT):Special Operations Forces (SOF) of Pakistan and Turkey Navy participated in bilateral exercise “Eldiz” held in Turkey. According to Pakistan Navy, during the exercise, the Special Operations Forces of both the countries gave a brilliant demonstration of different types of operations. The exercise aims to further enhance the joint operations capabilities between the Special Operations Forces of the two brotherly countries.

Prime Minister fulfilled promise by conducting LG elections in KP: Fawad 

Islamabad, December 20, 2021 (PPI-OT):Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhary Fawad Hussain says only Prime Minister Imran Khan fulfilled the promise of strong local government by conducting local bodies elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

In a tweet today [Monday], he said for the first time, power is being transferred directly to the elected representatives at tehsil level. The Minister said Imran Khan is the only leader who puts his political interests behind him and thinks for the country and the people.

Polling for Senate vacant seat underway at KP assembly hall in Peshawar 

Islamabad, December 20, 2021 (PPI-OT):The polling for election on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa vacant Senate seat is underway at provincial assembly hall in Peshawar. The seat was vacated after resignation of Muhammad Ayub Afridi.

A total of four candidates are contesting for the vacant senate seat including Advisor to Prime Minister on finance Shaukat Tareen, Zahir Shah, Muhammad Saeed and Shaukat Jamal Amirzadah. Polling started at nine this morning and will continue till four in the evening without any break.

Pakistan, Turkey and Malaysia launching joint TV channel to promote media link: Fawad 

Islamabad, December 20, 2021 (PPI-OT):Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain says a joint television channel would be set up to promote media links between Pakistan, Turkey and Malaysia. Talking to media in Islamabad, he said focal persons have been named for media sharing, and the joint media network will be formed.

Chaudhry Fawad said issues of extremism need to be tackled in Pakistan, Malaysia and other Muslim countries. He suggested that under the OIC platform, a unit of scholars should be named to provide guidance on religious issues. The minister said the jurisdiction of Rehmat-ul-Alamin Authority would be expanded, and a similar unit would be formed under the OIC.

COAS, Saudi FM discuss matters of mutual interest, regional security and Afghanistan situation

Islamabad, December 20, 2021 (PPI-OT):Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa says the 17th extraordinary session of OIC is extremely important to channelize international efforts and save Afghanistan from looming security and humanitarian crises. He was talking to Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal Bin Farhan Al Saud, who called on him in Rawalpindi.

Matters of mutual interest, regional security, current situation in Afghanistan and bilateral defence relations were discussed during the meeting. The Army Chief also emphasized that peaceful resolution of Kashmir dispute is essential for stability in South Asia.

He reiterated that Pakistan wants cordial ties with all its neighbours in pursuit of regional peace and prosperity. The visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan’s role in Afghan situation, specially its efforts for border management and its role in regional stability.

International community recognizes humanitarian crisis is looming in Afghanistan: Foreign Minister 

Islamabad, December 20, 2021 (PPI-OT):Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said there is an awareness and recognition in the international community that a humanitarian crisis is looming in Afghanistan. He was addressing a press conference along with OIC Secretary General Hissein Brahim Taha in Islamabad at the conclusion of the 17th extraordinary session of OIC Council of Foreign Ministers.

He said the Organization of Islamic Cooperation will hold discussions with international community and United Nations for unlocking financial and banking channels for delivery of resources to the people of Afghanistan. Shah Mahmood Qureshi said we can have a difference of opinion with Afghan authorities but our focus should be on 38 million people of Afghanistan. He said if things go wrong, not only Afghanistan but neighbouring countries would also be adversely impacted and the consequences even be felt beyond the region.

Extraordinary Session of OIC-CFM would provide impetus to member states to assist Afghanistan: Prime Minister

Islamabad, December 20, 2021 (PPI-OT):Prime Minister Imran Khan has expressed the hope that the world would not repeat the mistake of disengaging with Afghanistan, and support the vulnerable people of the war-torn country. He was talking to the OIC Secretary General Hissien Brahim Taha and foreign ministers of various countries, including Saudi Arabia, Iran and Malaysia, who separately called on him on the side-lines of Extraordinary Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers in Islamabad.

The Prime Minister expressed confidence that the Extraordinary Session of the OIC’s foreign ministers would provide impetus to the member states to assist Afghanistan. He urged international community to find additional ways for long-term reconstruction and infrastructure development in Afghanistan.

The Prime Minister said Pakistan is committed to facilitate humanitarian organizations in their humanitarian support to Afghanistan to alleviate the sufferings of Afghan people. The OIC Secretary General and the foreign ministers lauded Pakistan for hosting the Extraordinary session of OIC foreign ministers to mobilize international community for supporting the people of Afghanistan on humanitarian grounds.
