Covid-19: Four more deaths, 322 positive cases reported in country

Islamabad, December 24, 2021 (PPI-OT):Four deaths and 322 positive cases of coronavirus were reported in the country during the last twenty-four hours. According to National Command and Operation Centre, 47,811 tests were conducted during the same period and the positivity ratio remained 0.67 percent. 652 patients are in critical care.

PTI Government ensures equal rights to the minorities: Ashrafi 

Islamabad, December 24, 2021 (PPI-OT):Special Representative to Prime Minister for Religious and Interfaith Harmony Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi has said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government has ensured equal rights to the minorities. He expressed these views while addressing an Interfaith Harmony Conference and a ceremony in connection with Christmas in Lahore. He said the trend of interfaith harmony is growing and constitution of Pakistan protects the rights of minorities.

Section of media run false news about ordinance for amendments in Finance Bill: Fawad 

Islamabad, December 24, 2021 (PPI-OT):Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain says a section of media without bothering to take the government version, constantly run the news that the amendments to the Finance Bill are being brought through an ordinance instead of an Act of Parliament. In a tweet, the minister rubbished the claim and said that amendments to the Finance Bill would be tabled in Parliament which would make the final decision in that regard.

Agriculture sector among top priorities to boost production of cotton: Fakhar 

Islamabad, December 24, 2021 (PPI-OT):Minister for National Food and Security Syed Fakhar Imam says agriculture sector is among the top priorities of the government to boost the production of cotton crop. He was addressing an international conference at Centre of Excellence and Molecular Biology in Punjab University Lahore.

He said that last year record per acre production of different major crops has been obtained. The minister said that federal government would provide financial resources for the applicable agriculture projects in all provinces including Gilgit Baltistan to develop agriculture sector in the country.

Islamabad, December 24, 2021 (PPI-OT):Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain says the Christian community has an important role in progress and prosperity of Pakistan. Addressing a Christmas ceremony, organized by the Associated Press of Pakistan in Islamabad, he said the minorities’ role in Pakistan will continue to be acknowledged in days to come.

The Minister said Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, in his address to the Constituent Assembly of Pakistan on August 11, 1947, had declared that the rights of minorities will be fully protected in the state of Pakistan. Chaudhry Fawad Hussain also cut Christmas cake in the ceremony and felicitated the Christian community on Christmas. Information Secretary Shahera Shahid was also present on the occasion.

Addressing a reception at Multan, he said Pakistan always desired peace, prosperity and development in the region. We think if Afghanistan becomes peaceful then the entire region will be peaceful.

He maintained that Pakistan took the first step to highlight the sufferings of Afghans in the world and Almighty Allah has blessed us with historic diplomatic success. The foreign Minister said that the top priority at the moment is to protect 38 million Afghans from Hunger and poverty.

Azam Swati calls for collective approach to deal challenge of extremism 

Islamabad, December 24, 2021 (PPI-OT):Minister for Railways Azam Khan Swati has called for a collective approach to deal the challenge of extremism in the country. Speaking on a motion in the Senate today regarding mob attack on a Sri Lankan citizen in Sialkot, he said extremism has become a challenge for every institution including our justice system and society that requires corrective measures on priority basis.

Condemning the Sialkot incident in strong words, he said no philosophy or religious belief justifies such brutal act. The Minister appreciated Prime Minister Imran Khan for giving Tamgha-e-Imtiaz to Malik Adnan for his courageous endeavour to save Priyantha Kumara from the mob.

He also appreciated the role of Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industries and the people who visited Priyantha’s family to express their support. Meanwhile, the session of National Assembly was adjourned due to lack of quorum and it will now meet again on Monday at 4:00 pm.

President urges overseas Pakistanis to invest in Pakistan emerging as Asia’s premier trade hub 

Islamabad, December 24, 2021 (PPI-OT):President Dr. Arif Alvi has urged overseas Pakistanis to invest in Pakistan which is fast emerging as Asia’s premier investment and trade hub. He was talking to a delegation of US based overseas Pakistanis-led by President Aspire Pakistan Hassan Syed, in Islamabad. He emphasized the need to link up Pakistani Diaspora with the industry, academia, experts and the relevant organizations in Pakistan for proper utilization of their intellectual and business talent.

The President said Pakistan is improving and training its available human resource by imparting them contemporary skills and modern education. He further said steps are being taken for digitalization of economy to boost foreign direct investment in the country.
