Hindutva goons desecrate statue of Jesus Christ in Ambala, India

Chandigarh, December 27, 2021 (PPI-OT):A life-size statue of Hazrat Isa (AS) at the British-era Holy Redeemer Church in the cantonment area in Haryana was desecrated by Hindutva goons. The goons desecrated and damaged the lighting inside the church premises in the early hours of December 26 in Ambala city of the Indian state. The First Information Report (FIR) has been lodged on charges of trespass and defiling a place of worship.

The incident comes close on the heels of attempts by the Hindu right-wing groups to disrupt Christmas celebrations across the State, including a private school in Gurugram on December 24 evening. However, no formal police complaints were lodged in these cases due to the fear among minorities in the state.

Father Patras Mundu, Parish Priest, Holy Redeemer Church, speaking to the media, said the attack took place between 12.30 a.m. and 1.40 a.m. with two men on a two-wheeler entering the church by jumping over the main gate and damaging the lighting and the decoration inside the premises. Before leaving, the duo hurled bricks and broke the glass case at the entrance to the church, which housed the statue of Jesus Christ.

IIOJK has no government, say stranded passengers in Jammu

Jammu, December 27, 2021 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, in the wake of the ongoing Rail-Roko strike, commuters stranded in Jammu are struggling to reach their respective destinations. Lack of facilities at Jammu Bus Stand has added to their woes.

Stranded passengers while talking to media said that they have to stand in long queues to buy a ticket. “There has been no electricity at the bus stand since morning and we are finding it hard to reach the ticket counters in darkness,” they said, adding, “The J and K government has failed to take steps to clear the stranded passengers due to suspension of train services. On the other hand private bus operators are looting the passengers.”

They said that no one from the administration has visited them to help them out. “There seems to be no government in J and K,” said a devotee who had returned from Katra. Rail Roko strike is being observed by Sikh farmers in support of their demands including ransom for the farmers died during the months long farmers protest in India.

“Grave Threat”: 76 top Indian Supreme Court lawyers write to Chief Justice on genocide call

New Delhi, December 27, 2021 (PPI-OT):Seventy-six advocates of the Indian Supreme Court have written to Chief Justice NV Ramana, asking the top court to take suo motu cognisance of the calls for ethnic cleansing of Muslims at two recent Hindu religious events in Delhi and Haridwar in Uttarakhand state. Naming a list of people who had given the call, the advocates wrote that in absence of police action, “Urgent judicial intervention is required to prevent such events that seem to have become the order of the day”.

Pointing to the religious conclaves in Haridwar and Delhi, the letter – signed by eminent lawyers including Dushyant Dave, Prashant Bhushan and Vrinda Grover, Salman Khurshid and former Patna High Court judge Anjana Prakash – read: “The aforementioned events and the speeches delivered during the same are not mere hate speeches but amount to an open call for murder of an entire community”.

The speeches, the letter said, pose a “grave threat not just to the unity and integrity of our country but also endanger the lives of millions of Muslim citizens”. Following outrage and condemnation on social media over the open calls for genocide and use of weapons against Muslims, a police case was filed four days after the Haridwar event, in which only one person was named. Two more names were later added – Dharm Das and one Sadhvi Annapurna.

In one of the videos, “Sadhvi Annapurna” – formerly called Pooja Shakun Pandey – is heard saying, “If you want to finish them off, then kill them, we need 100 soldiers who can kill 20 lakh of them to win this”. Those who organised the event and gave hate speeches, claim they did no wrong.

Hindu Raksha Sena’s Prabodhanand Giri – photographed often with BJP leaders including Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and his Uttarakhand counterpart Pushkar Dhami – said he is “not ashamed” of what he said. “I am not afraid of police. I stand by my statement,” he had told NDTV.

In one of the videos circulated on social media, he is heard saying: “Like Myanmar, our police, our politicians, our Army and every Hindu must pick up weapons and conduct a Safayi Abhiyan (ethnic cleansing). There is no other option left”.

“It may be noted that no effective steps have been taken under the provisions of 153, 153A, 153B, 295A, 504, 506, 120B, 34 of IPC in respect of the earlier hate speeches. Thus, urgent judicial intervention is required to prevent such events that seem to have become the order of the day,” read the letter sent to Chief Justice Ramana. It also pointed out that several petitions have been filed on it and are pending with the court.

India denounced for killing innocent Kashmiris in fake encounters

Srinagar, December 27, 2021 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Hurriyat leaders and organizations have condemned the Modi-led Indian regime for killing innocent Kashmiri youth in fake encounters. According to Kashmir Media Service, Jammu and Kashmir Islamic Political Party Chairman Muhammad Yousuf Naqash in a statement said that killing, intimidation and imprisonment would not hinder Kashmiris from pursing their basic right to self-determination. He expressed deep sorrow over the recent killings and massacres of underage and innocent youth in fake encounters by Indian forces.” The eternal sacrifices of our martyrs are our precious asset and we will not allow this asset to be wasted at any cost.”

Jammu and Kashmir Freedom Front (KFF) spokesman in a statement said the way reign of terror has been unleashed in Kashmir indicate that India has waged a war against the unarmed people of Kashmir. He paid tributes to the martyred youth and said it is high time for the world conscience to break the criminal silence and pressurize India to stop rights violations in Kashmir.

Denouncing in strong terms the fresh killing spree in the occupied territory, Jammu and Kashmir National Front said that the ruthless killing campaign was part of India’s deep-rooted conspiracy to change demographic complexion of the Muslim majority territory. In a statement issued in Srinagar on Monday, JKNF spokesman Shafiq-ur-Rehman while citing the ruthless killing of 5 youth in fake encounters in south Kashmir said that killing manifests rising fascism that seeks to control, by any means, all of Kashmir its land, people and resources.

Jammu and Kashmir Political Resistance Movement (JKPRM) urged the world community to take necessary measures for the freedom of Kashmir from the Indian yoke. The JKPRM Vice Chairman, Ajazul Haq, General Secretary Dr Musaib Ahmad and chief spokesman Khan Umer said that the ongoing Kashmir movement is the continuation of the Pakistan Movement and the Kashmiris will continue their struggle till they achieve freedom from Indian yoke.

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference Chairman Shabbir Ahmed Dar in a statement expressed serious concern over the continued attacks on minorities by Hindu extremists. The surge in attacks against Christians from the last couple of days in the BJP ruled states is a matter of serious concern as it clearly shows how the system is working in India, he added. He said that the Muslims are already facing the worst situation and urged the United Nations and those who champion religious freedom to punish India for such crimes.

He deplored that the extremist forces are working on a plan to change the demography of IIOJK. Pasban-e-Hurriyat Chairman Uzair Ahmad Ghazali in a statement in Muzaffarabad said that the Modi-led BJP government in India is involved in a systematic genocide of the Kashmiri people in the garb of fake encounters.
