Islamabad, December 12, 2021 (PPI-OT):Ambassador of Pakistan to Belgium, Luxembourg and the European Union Zaheer A. Janjua has said that Pakistan is a land of rich culture and diverse traditions. Addressing an exhibition of Pakistani miniature art, titled “Infinite thoughts on Globalizations” organized by Pakistani Embassy in Brussels, the ambassador said Pakistan has inherited one of the most culturally advanced civilizations. He emphasized that the Sufi culture, which originated in the land of Pakistan, remained a powerful force for tolerance, pluralism and co-existence in the region.

Government taking practical measures towards a hunger-free Pakistan: MD PBM 

Islamabad, December 12, 2021 (PPI-OT):Managing Director, Pakistan Bait ul Mal, Malik Zaheer Abbas Khokhar said that the government under ‘Ehsaas program is taking practical measures for providing quality shelter and food to the neglected segments of the society.

In an interview, he said that the present government is utilizing its resources for bringing a positive change in the society and paying full attention on the public welfare related landmark projects. He said Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal is expanding the scope of shelter homes and ‘langar khanay’ across the country in line with PM’s vision of developing Pakistan as an Islamic welfare state.

Opposition parties opposing EVMs’ use in elections to avert transparency: Shibli Faraz 

Islamabad, December 12, 2021 (PPI-OT):Minister for Science and Technology Shibli Faraz says the opposition parties are opposing the usage of Electronic Voting Machines in elections because they do not want transparency in the election process. Talking to a private news channel, he said that Prime Minister Imran Khan had invited the opposition parties to sit together for bringing electoral reforms but they refused.

The Minister said the PTI government is fully committed to eradicate the menace of corruption from society and no compromise would be made over the matter. He said corruption is the real cause of all economic problems of the country. Shibli Faraz said the government is focusing to enhance working capacity of institutions and paying proper attention to different sectors.

President directs SLIC to pay over Rs1.6m to deceased policyholders’ families 

Islamabad, December 12, 2021 (PPI-OT):President Dr Arif Alvi has rejected four separate representations, filed by the State Life Insurance Corporation of Pakistan against the decisions of Federal Ombudsman. The President ordered the State Life Insurance Corporation of Pakistan to pay a collective sum of over 1.6 million rupees to families of the deceased life insurance policyholders.

The corporation had refused to pay the amount assured in the life insurance policy on the flimsy ground stating that the insured persons did not deliberately disclose their pre-insurance ailments at the time of obtaining the policy. The President upheld the decision of the Wafaqi Mohtasib and ordered that SLICP must fulfil its contractual obligations and pay up on the policy, besides reporting compliance to the Ombudsman within 30 days.

As per the details, Shakeel Zafar Khan, Muhammad Nawaz, Ghulam Yaseen, and Tanveer Hussain had obtained life insurance policies from SLICP for the sums assured of 700,000 rupees, 500,000 rupees, 210,000 rupees, and 200,000 rupees respectively.

Government to ensure resolutions of peoples’ problems by empowering LG system: Asad

Islamabad, December 12, 2021 (PPI-OT):Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar has said the system of local government should be fully empowered and government is going to announce an empowered local government system in Islamabad and Punjab. Addressing the All Stake-Holders Conference Sindh hosted by Pakistan Tehreek Insaf in Karachi on Sunday, he said PTI leadership is ready to sit with the Sindh government to resolve the problems of the province.

He said empowering the provinces alone will not solve the problems unless the powers are given to the lower levels. Minister for Planning said that the problems of the cities will not be solved until the local governments are empowered. Federal Minister said the voice of the people living in Karachi should also be heard. We will raise our voice at every forum for the solution to Karachi’s problems. Asad Umar said the constitution says that democracy is incomplete without local governments.

PDP denied permission to hold youth convention in Srinagar

Srinagar, December 12, 2021 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, People’s Democratic Party president, Mehbooba Mufti was on Sunday denied the permission to hold youth convention at her Gupkar residence in Srinagar. The PDP’s youth convention was scheduled to be held, today, at 11:00am at her Fairview House, Gupkar. An order issued by the executive magistrate in Srinagar stated that the youth convention, which is to be held by PDP at Gupkar, is not allowed.

Pakistan working on agenda of regional connectivity to promote trade: Foreign Minister Qureshi 

Islamabad, December 12, 2021 (PPI-OT):Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said some forces want unrest in Pakistan just to fulfil their different geo strategic agenda. Addressing at the concluding session of Hazrat Shah Rukn-e-Alam conference in Multan on Sunday, he said these forces do not like peace, stability, economic viability and prosperity in Pakistan.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi maintained that Pakistan is working on the agenda of regional connectivity to overcome energy crisis, improve trade between regional countries, create job opportunities in Pakistan and bring investment in the country. The Foreign Minister said Pakistan wants stability and durable peace in Afghanistan.

He said on the desire of Prime Minister Imran Khan, he has called the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of OIC on 19th of this month in Islamabad. He said the agenda of the meeting is to discuss prevailing situation in Afghanistan and find out ways to help Afghan people. Shah Mehmood Qureshi said Kashmiris and Palestinians have been under the oppression and hostility since long and prayed to Almighty Allah for the freedom of Kashmir and Palestine and for an end to brutalities against these Muslims. He said shrines of saints are source of unity, tolerance and brotherhood.

Farooq Abdullah proposes meeting of Jammu political parties on Dec 19 

Jammu, December 12, 2021 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, National Conference President, Farooq Abdullah has taken the initiative to bring all recognized political parties of Jammu on one platform to fight for the rights of Jammu people.

Farooq Abdullah, after his meeting with the Jammu and Kashmir Panthers Party President, Prof Bhim Singh, has proposed the meeting of all political parties of the territory on December 19 in Jammu.

Farooq Abdullah and Bhim Singh discussed the possibility of holding a meeting of all recognized political parties namely NC, PDP, and Panthers Party to discuss the movement for restoration of statehood and assembly elections. Farooq Abdullah suggested the name of Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami of CPI-M for the same meeting.
