J&T Express Sets up Its MENA Regional Headquarters in Saudi Arabia and Signs a MoU on the Largest Smart Logistics Park in the Region

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia, Feb. 1, 2022 /PRNewswire/ – J&T Express, an international express logistics company, today announced at LEAP that it will set up its MENA regional headquarters in Riyadh, the capital city of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and build the largest smart logistics industrial park in the region together with eWTP Arabia Capital and other partners.

Second cohort of UNDP JAZZ SDG Bootcamp concludes – Winning start-ups focus on Education, Health, Climate Change, and Digital Transformation 

Islamabad, February 01, 2022 (PPI-OT):UNDP Pakistan and Jazz conclude the second cohort of the SDG Bootcamps – on themes of Education, Health, Climate Change, and Digital Transformation. Implemented by School of Leadership Foundation (SoLF), in the second cohort, 131 social enterprises participated, including 42 women-led initiatives. Four social enterprises emerged victorious.

The winning social enterprises included – Bechlo.pk from Sindh, a multi-vendor app store created for and by women to sell new and preloved products online; Perwaz from Sindh, a healthcare company that provides drone services to deliver medical aid; Crop Care from Sindh, a mobile app that helps farmers detect crop diseases and recommends solutions; and Edibles from Punjab, working to reduce single use plastic cutlery by introducing sustainable and eco-friendly alternatives.

This second round of bootcamps also included one regional bootcamp in Islamabad with a total of 25 social enterprises, including participants from Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Malook Enterprise won the regional bootcamp. This social enterprise is creating income opportunities for communities in Gilgit Baltistan by harvesting and selling local organic produce, like herbs, dry fruits, vegetables, etc.

Seven drug peddlers arrested; cache of drugs recovered 

Islamabad, February 01, 2022 (PPI-OT):Islamabad police have arrested seven drug-peddlers during its crackdown against the menace in the city, a police spokesman said. He said that, following directions of IGP Islamabad Muhammad Ahsan Younas, a massive anti-drug campaign had been launched in the city to curb the menace.

Following these directions, a police team under supervision of SP Sadar headed by SHO Golra and officials raided at different locations and arrested two drug-peddlers identified as Adnan and Hameed Khan and recovered 1480 gram heroin from their possession. Meanwhile, a police team of Tarnol police station headed by SHO along with officials arrested a drug-peddler Wahid Ullah and recovered 1110 hashish.

Karachi Company police arrested two accused Dawood Khan and Adnan Ghuraiz and recovered 60 gram heroin, 40 gram Ice and 201 gram hashish from their possession. Shams colony police arrested an accused Kayi Oda alwatni and recovered 14 bottles wine from him. Shahzad Town police arrested accused Ajmal Khan and recovered 120 gram hashish from him. Cases have been registered against the accused, investigation is underway.

IGP Islamabad Muhammad Ahsan Younas has appreciated the police performance and further directed to intensify this crackdown in the whole city. “No one would be allowed to play with the precious lives of the citizens, ” he added. The IGP emphasized that citizens should also take part in this noble cause and inform any suspicious activity. “It’s our collective responsibility to curb this social evil from the city” the IGP informed.
