BOI organizes Pakistan-Investors Meet-up 2022 for CARs, African Countries in Expo Centre Lahore 

Islamabad, February 27, 2022 (PPI-OT):Federal Board of Investment (BOI) organized a Pakistan-Investors Meet-up 2022 for the Central Asian Republics (CARs) and African Countries in Expo Centre Lahore. More than 100 foreign delegates from CARs and Africa participate in BOI’s Pakistan Investors Meet up 2022 in Lahore.

Speaking on the occasion, Secretary Board of Investment Fareena Mazhar said Pakistan and Africa share many commonalities. Both have their own geostrategic significance which makes it convenient for investors to trade globally. She said Pakistan and the Central Asia Republics share religious and cultural cohesion.

The Investment Promotion Team of BOI welcomed the foreign delegates and informed that being at the crossroads between Central and South Asia, it is encouraging for Pakistan to successfully establish itself as a suitable investment destination and play a bridging role by providing easy passage to the landlocked Central Asian Republics.

During the meet up the audience were also informed that the Board of Investment is also organizing Pakistan Investment Summit, 2022, a two-day event on 30th and 31st of next month in which more than 500 international investors are expected to attend.

Evacuation process of Pakistanis to be completed within couple of days: Ambassador 

Islamabad, February 27, 2022 (PPI-OT):Pakistani Ambassador in Ukraine Retired Major General Noel Israel Khokhar says the Embassy in the war-hit country is taking steps to evacuate Pakistanis as early as possible. Talking to Radio Pakistan, he expressed the hope that evacuation process will be completed within a couple of days.

The Ambassador said curfew in the country is causing difficulties and huge number of people has gathered at border areas. He asked stranded Pakistanis to abide the law and wait for their turn in the queues.

Promoting E-Commerce trade can balance Pakistan’s trade deficit: Aon Buppi 

Islamabad, February 27, 2022 (PPI-OT):Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on E-Commerce, Senator Aon Abbas Buppi said by promoting E-Commerce trade in Pakistan, we can balance our trade deficit which will lead to improve the country’s economic growth. Talking to the APP, he advised the youth of Pakistan to utilize e-commerce sector to play an effective role in the economic development.

Aon said that with the personal interest of the Prime Minister, various initiatives are being taken for the development of the E-Commerce sector. Aon Abbas said, the E-Tijarat portal will help boost trade and help overall economic development by promoting “Made in Pakistan” products in regional and global markets. SAPM said that the government has introduced the first E-Commerce policy in October 2019, which would create new avenues of employment opportunities.

The SAPM said that a new Equity Investment Policy had been approved and the E-Commerce sector is being linked with Silicon Valley. The SAPM said that work is also underway on Ease of Doing Business in collaboration with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Pakistan has immense opportunities of trade: President

Islamabad, February 27, 2022 (PPI-OT):President Dr Arif Alvi says Pakistan has immense opportunities of trade and tourism for the entire world. Addressing the First Pakistan Engineering and Healthcare Show in Lahore, he said government has taken several steps for improvement of international trade, ease of doing business and promotion of tourism in the country.

He said Pakistan is becoming a geo-economic hub for the countries of Central Asia, China, Turkey and Europe and world can trade with China and Central Asian Republics through Pakistan. He said Pakistan is producing high-quality products in various sectors such as surgical and sports.

President Alvi highlighted that the successful handling of COVID-19 is one of many examples of efficiency of people of the country. He assured the visiting delegates that government has made business easy and invited international entrepreneurs to come and initiate businesses in Pakistan.

In his address, Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar said doing business with African and Central Asian Republics is high priority of Pakistan. Later, President Alvi launched Pakistan Trade Portal and Meet Pakistan mobile application for the development of trade and tourism in the country.

G 77 calls for ensuring equitable distribution of vaccines to defeat coronavirus pandemic globally 

Islamabad, February 27, 2022 (PPI-OT):Pakistan, in its capacity as Chairman of the developing countries Group of 77, has called for ensuring equitable distribution of vaccines to defeat the coronavirus pandemic globally.

These views were expressed by deputy permanent representative of Pakistan to the UN, Mohammad Aamir Khan, while speaking at a high-level event convened by the General Assembly President Abdulla Shahid, aimed at ‘Galvanizing Momentum for Universal Vaccination’. He said universal access to safe, effective, equitable, and affordable vaccines is the most immediate way to end the pandemic, support economic recovery and progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals.

All allied parties intact with PTI govt: Farrukh 

Islamabad, February 27, 2022 (PPI-OT):Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Farrukh Habib says all allied parties are intact with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan. Talking to a private news channel, he said opposition leaders are trying their best to woo allied parties but all their attempts to dislodge the government would fail.

Farrukh Habib said both Pakistan People’s Party and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, while in governments, had ruthlessly plundered national exchequer instead of working for the country’s development. The Minister of State said Sindh government got its share of two thousand billion rupees under National Finance Commission Award during last two years but funds were not spent on public welfare.

Today is day of complete revival of Int’l cricket in Pakistan: Fawad 

Islamabad, February 27, 2022 (PPI-OT):Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain today is the day of complete revival of international cricket in Pakistan. In a video message on Sunday, he said Australian cricket team has arrived in Pakistan after 23 years. He said it’s for the first time that complete Pakistan Super League was held in Pakistan. Commenting on the third anniversary of Operation Swift Retort, he said Pakistan armed forces under leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan responded befittingly to Indian aggression.

Islamabad, February 27, 2022 (PPI-OT):Today marks third anniversary of “Operation Swift Retort” when Pakistan Armed Forces gave a befitting response to Indian failed misadventure. In a tweet today, DG ISPR Major General Babar Iftikhar said achievements of PAF in shooting down two Indian fighter aircrafts, detection of Indian submarine at sea by Pakistan Navy and resounding response at Line of Control by Pak Army are testament to professionalism and determination of Pakistan Armed Forces for defence of motherland. The DG ISPR said not just weapons or numbers but resolve of a nation and operational preparedness of Armed Forces defines success in face of adversity.
