COVID-19 claims one more patient, infects 524 others 

Karachi, February 20, 2022 (PPI-OT):As many as one more patient of Coronavirus died overnight lifting the death toll to 8,030 and 524 new cases emerged when 11,424 tests were conducted. This was stated by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in a statement issued here on Sunday. He added that one more patient of COVID-19 lost his life lifting the death toll to 8,030 that constituted 1.4 percent death rate. Mr. Shah said that 11,424 samples were tested which detected 524 cases that constituted 4.6 percent current detection rate.

He added that so far 7,841,397 tests have been conducted against which 561,377 cases were diagnosed, of them 90. 6 percent or 508,879 patients have recovered, including 216 overnight. The CM said that currently 44,468 patients were under treatment, of them 44,220 were in home isolation, 18 at isolation centres and 230 at different hospitals. He added that the condition of 213 patients was stated to be critical, including 16 shifted to ventilators.

According to the statement, out of 524 new cases, 204 have been detected from Karachi, including 80 from Malir, 57 East, 31 South, 21 Korangi, 14 Central and 1 West. Hyderabad has 126, Sujawal 30, Thatta 28, Jamshoro 26, Tharparkar 18, Shikarpur 15, Jacobabad and Sanghar 10 each, Sukkur 9, Mirpurkhas and Tando Allahyar 8 each, Badin and Ghotki 7 each, Larkana ad Umerkot 6 each, Matiari 4 and Khairpur 2.

Vaccination: Sharing vaccination data the CM said that 45,711,619 vaccinations have been administered upto February 18th, and added during the last 24 hours 345,709 vaccines were inoculated – in total 46,057,328 vaccines have administered which constituted 85.15 percent of the vaccine eligible population. The chief minister urged people of the province to follow SOPs.

PTI govt lays foundation for real change: FM Qureshi 

Islamabad, February 20, 2022 (PPI-OT):Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi says announcement of a no-confidence motion by the opposition parties is another attempt at bargaining for a new deal, in which the opposition will fail. Addressing various functions at Multan on Sunday, he said PTI members of Assembly and their allies in Parliament would work together to thwart efforts of opposition leaders to avoid accountability.

He said government is fighting against corruption and looting and we want to change the corrupt and outdated system. Foreign Minister said government laid the foundation for real change and the establishment of a transparent system. He said health card is a revolutionary initiative of our government through which every deserving person can get treatment up to one million rupees.

The Foreign Minister said due to effective policies of government during Corona pandemic, not only the wheel of the national economy was running but also the poor people were saved from starvation. He said international community has also hailed the Prime Minister Imran Khan’s culture of smart lockdown.

He said Pakistan is an agricultural country and government is spending three hundred billion rupees on this sector under Prime Minister’s Agricultural Emergency Package. He said that no new dam has been built in the country since 1967 which generates most of the electricity from furnace oil.

Pakistan records GDP growth rate of 5.5pc: Hammad Azhar 

Islamabad, February 20, 2022 (PPI-OT):Minister for Energy Hammad Azhar says the country’s economy is growing at the rate of 5.5 percent. He was addressing a public gathering in Lahore on Sunday. Highlighting the people-friendly policies of present government, he said about ten million families have been benefited by Ehsaas program. He said now people are able to get the best medical facilities of one million rupees through Sehat Insaf card.

Hammad Azhar said Pakistan tackled the heinous impacts of coronavirus very smartly and Bill Gates acknowledged the efforts of Pakistan to curb the coronavirus. Terming youth as a great asset of the country, he said that the government will provide ample opportunities to youth so that they would be able to excel in all fields.

Media enjoying unprecedented freedom in country: Farrukh 

Islamabad, February 20, 2022 (PPI-OT):Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Farrukh Habib says the government is taking all possible measures to create a conducive environment for media person’s to perform their professional obligations. Talking to journalists in press club Jhang on Sunday, the State Minister said media is enjoying unprecedented freedom and the government is also encouraging the self-regulation system by the media houses.

Farrukh Habib said safety and security of the working journalists is among the top priorities of the government. He said government is keen to equip the Pakistani media with latest technologies. The State Minister added that Information and Broadcasting Ministry is fully supporting the idea of the Journalist Protection Act.

He said to meet the residential needs new housing schemes are also being launched on with facility of payments in installments. Farrukh Habib stated that nineteen new universities are under construction and to ensure provision of the best health facilities to females, eight mother child hospitals being built in the country. He also announced that A Digital Media House will be set up in Jhang.

Govt committed to welfare of people: Asad Qaiser 

Islamabad, February 20, 2022 (PPI-OT):Speaker National Assembly, Asad Qaiser says present government is committed to the welfare of people. Talking to newsmen after reviewing the pace of work on Welfare City project in Swabi on Sunday, he said work on developmental projects across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is swiftly underway.

Asad Qaiser said a university for skills development is being established in Swabi. He said similarly, an abode is also being set up in Swabi for orphans and impoverished children. The Speaker National Assembly said the government is taking measures for bringing improvement in health and education sectors in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
