Seegene Announces Q4 and Full-Year 2021 Financial Results

  • Total sales of 2021 stood at KRW 1.37 trillion, a 22% increase YoY

SEOUL, South Korea, Feb. 17, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Seegene Inc. (KQ 096530), South Korea’s leading molecular diagnostics company, today announced full-year 2021 financial results that marked an all-time high record with total sales increasing 22% year-over-year (YoY) to KRW 1.37 trillion (approx. US$1.14 billion). Operating profit held steady YoY at KRW 666.7 billion (approx. US$556 million).

Seegene’s record-high sales were supported by growth in both SARS-CoV-2 product sales and its broader molecular diagnostics portfolio. With a subsequent resurgence of COVID-19 cases after the emergence of the Omicron variant in the fourth quarter of 2021, flu cases began to surge as well during the winter season. This had led to an increase in sales of syndromic assays that can simultaneously identify COVID-19 and other respiratory viruses in a single test.

As a result, Seegene’s the total sales in Q4 reached KRW 410 billion (approx. US$342 million), exceeding market estimates by 7%. Its operating profit outperformed expectations by 9%, finishing the quarter at KRW 199.9 billion (approx. US$166 million). Since last December, Seegene has exported 2.8 million tests to five European nations, 5.1 million tests to Israel, and another four million tests to Brazil.

In addition, sales of Seegene’s non-COVID products further strengthened in Q4. Sales of non-COVID products including other respiratory, HPV and STI assays increased by 33% YoY, showing a robust growth.

The company’s operating profit of KRW 666.7 billion (approx. US$556 million) remained unchanged YoY, while the company increased strategic investment in R&D and human resources. Seegene executed a KRW 75 billion (approx. US$62.6 million) investment in R&D – a three-fold increase from 2020 – adding talented employees from various fields including biology and Information Technology, doubling the employee count in 2021 to approximately 1,100 global team members. Also Seegene expanded the instrument portfolio of company’s own and began to internalize the production of core raw materials including extraction reagent and oligonucleotide and enzymes.

Because of such strategic investments, Seegene is set to transform its assay development process from manual to digital, empowering biology experts around the world to develop their own diagnostic assays. Islamabad Police has launched its services through WhatsApp. It was stated by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Muhammad Ahsan Younas in his message while guiding public about this service.

The IGP said that it is the first of its kind WhatsApp based service developed by any Police force of Pakistan. Muhammad Ahsan Younas further told that this service is free of cost and it is expected that citizens will be able to avail services of Islamabad Police through their fingertips using WhatsApp.

The citizens will receive all information about police services after getting themselves registered by sending a simple message on WhatsApp number 03342874287, 033ICTP ICTP. The citizens through WhatsApp can get services in both English and Urdu languages.

Islamabad police chief termed the step towards modern policing in the federal capital adding that Islamabad police is taking many steps to provide maximum facilities to the general public at their doorstep. He added that Islamabad police had already introduced 28 different services including walk through service at public facilitation center F-6 Islamabad.

The United States and Pakistan Break Ground on U.S. Education Foundation of Pakistan Headquarters 

Islamabad, February 17, 2022 (PPI-OT):Today marks a new milestone in the 75 years of the U.S.-Pakistani relationship with the ground-breaking of the first permanent headquarters for the U.S. Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP). U.S. Embassy Islamabad Charge d’affaires Angela P. Aggeler noted: “Today’s ground-breaking is just the next step in the tremendous work of USEFP and each of you who are dedicated to bringing our people together through education, and eager to watch it continue for decades to come.”

In 1950, the United States and Pakistan officially formed a bilateral commission – now known as USEFP – to exchange Masters’ and PhD students. Today, USEFP manages a wide range of educational and professional exchange programs, including the largest Fulbright Program in the world, between Pakistan and the United States, and many thousands of alumni of those programs are leaders throughout the country.

Member Engineering CDA visited Rawal Dam Interchange Project and CDA citizens Facilitation Center 

Islamabad, February 17, 2022 (PPI-OT):In line with the directions of Chairman CDA, Member Engineering of Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Sunday visited CDA Facilitation Center and Rawal Dam Interchange project. On this occasion Officers of relevant departments were also present along with Member Engineering.

Member Engineering CDA took a detailed look at the progress made in the construction work in the projects. On this occasion Member Engineering was briefed that the best facilities are being provided to the people and in this connection lift is also being installed which is in the final stages of completion.

Later, the Member Engineering along with the officers of the concerned departments also visited the Rawal Dam Interchange project and reviewed the progress of development works. On this occasion, Member Engineering while instructing the concerned departments said that the pace of work should be further accelerated and high quality of work should be ensured at all times and all available resources should be utilized to complete the project ahead of schedule.

Elevated expressway project given formal approval 

Lahore, February 17, 2022 (PPI-OT):On the direction of Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar, the elevated expressway project has been accorded formal approval as the cabinet standing committee for finance and development has sanctioned 60 billion rupees along with the inclusion of the project in the annual development program.

In this regard, the CM stated that PM Imran Khan would soon lay the foundation stone of this project to be constructed from the main boulevard Gulberg to motorway M2 to ensure easy access to the motorway. This modern road facility would reduce the traffic congestion on canal and Multan roads, he added. In view of the growing population of Lahore, such public-friendly projects are imperative to accommodate the rising number of road users, he maintained.

It would prove to be a game-changer initiative to reduce traffic pressure by up to 65 per cent on busy roads of the provincial metropolis. The past rulers started projects on personal likes and dislikes while ignoring the basic needs of the Lahoreiites, the CM concluded.
